Drum roll please as we show you the three types of juvnenile (we rarely see the adults) drum fish you can see here in Cancun.
The most commonly seen is the juvenile spotted drum, is easy to recognize with its unbelievably long dorsal and tail fins that swirl as the fish dances in the current.
Next, is the juvenile high-hat which has horizontal stripe and a dorsal fin that is much longer than its tail fin.
Lastly, the jackknife has a tail fin that is longer than its dorsal fin and a fine yellow stripe along the outer edge of the dorsal fin.
All of these tiny juvenile drum fish are wonderful to see and will mesmerize you with their endless dancing (survival skill), but will frustrate the heck out of you when trying to film or photograph them.
