Introducing a few of the ray species we see regularly when the water cools down. Swipe to see the lineup! 👉

A lot of these species live on sandy slopes and patches around the reef, and some of them bury themselves so completely that all you can see are their eyes peeking out of the sand. Pretty incredible, right?

It’s also a good reminder of why good buoyancy matters even when you think there’s nothing but sand. Staying off the bottom keeps you and these beautiful animals safe!

Which one is your favourite? Let us know below! 👇

Isn’t everyone’s dream school a school of jacks?

Massive swirling schools like this are possible thanks to the protections put in place when Cabo Pulmo became a national park in 1995. Decades of conservation have allowed fish populations to recover, creating some of the most incredible underwater scenes in Baja.

Octopuses are masters of disguise.

Thanks to specialized pigment cells called chromatophores, they can change color in a fraction of a second! By expanding and contracting these cells, they shift from pale sand tones to deep reds and browns almost instantly, but it doesn’t stop at color. Octopuses can also alter the texture of their skin, raising small papillae to mimic rocks, coral, or algae, making them nearly invisible against the reef.

These rapid changes aren’t just camouflage. They use them to hunt, communicate, and respond to threats.

➡️ Swipe to the end to watch an octopus flash through a series of color changes after being harassed by a sabertooth blenny!

The ocean has a way of slowing everything down if you let it. 😌

We’re often lucky enough to see spotted eagle rays at our dive sites along the corridor, calmly passing through or at times even circling around!

If you’re ready to experience it for yourself, come dive with us! 🤿

People often ask when the best time to visit Cabo is, and the answer really depends on what you want to see! The ocean here is always changing, and every season brings something new to the water, but winter just happens to be humpback whale season in Baja! During this time, humpbacks migrate from colder northern waters to the warmer waters around Cabo.

From surface intervals to marine safaris, we’re often lucky enough to see these giants breaching, resting, and teaching their calves how to move through the ocean. Humpbacks are some of our favorite visitors, but please keep our secret safe and don’t tell the rest of the animals. 🫢

Come experience humpback season and see why winter in Baja is so special!
