NRVL Regional Qualifiers Update: Teams Advance to Next Stage
The Northern Region Volleyball League (NRVL) has concluded qualifiers in Zones A, B, and C, with teams emerging victorious and ready to compete in the Regional Qualifiers. Zone D's qualifiers will wrap up today at Katoto Courts.
Zone A: Mzimba Qualifiers
- Raiply and Mzimba High Hitters qualified for the Regional Qualifiers
- Zone Coordinator Phillip Moyo expressed satisfaction with the four participating teams (also included Mzimba Spikers and Mzimba Prison) but wished Ekwendeni from Mzimba North had joined in
- Teams like Embangweni, Jenda, Euthini, and Mpherember are encouraged to participate next time
Zone B: Chikwina Qualifiers
- Likoma Hooks and Chikwina qualified for the Regional Qualifiers
- Likoma Hooks dominated the tournament, traveling from the island to the mainland
- Zone General Secretary Lunoh looked forward to participating at the Regional Level, which is a very commendable thing that demonstrates NRVL's commitment to keep _Moving Volleyball Forward_ across the whole northern region.
Zone C: Karonga Spikers Shine
- Karonga Spikers and Uliwa Lions qualified for the Regional Qualifiers
- Karonga Spikers topped the standings with 6 points, while Ulowa Lions secured 3 points
- Zone Coordinator Jerome hopes Karonga Spikers will make a mark at the national tournament, as they promise to light fireworks at the next qualifying round.
Zone D: Qualifiers Continue at Katoto
- UVC, Chibavi, Moyale, and Katoto are currently leading the pack, with Mzuzu Fire just outside the top 4 rankings so far
- Zone D's qualifiers will conclude today at Katoto Courts, coordinated by Khwima
Regional Qualifiers
The Regional Qualifiers will take place on October 11-12 at Katoto Courts (official communication to follow), featuring top teams from each zone. The tournament serves as a precursor to the VAM Raiply National Tournament 2025, which will feature the best volleyball clubs from across Malawi. Moyale Volleyball Team are the defending champions.
The NRVL Committee expressed satisfaction with the proceedings across all zones, looking forward to the conclusion of the first round qualifiers today at Katoto. With Raiply's 14-year sponsorship, the tournament continues to grow and develop volleyball talent in Malawi.
