KALENJE'S STRIKE SENDS CHINTHECHE INTO NATIONAL LEVEL
Nkhatabay-based team Chintheche United has qualified to play at the national level in the FDH Cup after a successful 1-0 win over Eagles Strikers yesterday at Masamba Asiyana Ground in Nkhata Bay. Jimmy Kalanje's strike in the 8th minute of the first half was enough to secure Chintheche United's slot into the national level of the FDH Cup.
Chintheche United, who were banned in 2021 for indulging in violence, had their ban lifted earlier this year so they could start playing again. Players like Gaddie Chirwa of Mighty Mukuru Wanderers, Gibert Chirwa, and were some of the players who played for this team.
Chintheche United is currently in fifth place with 5 points in the Simso Premier League Cluster C, just 2 points behind the league leaders, Eagles Strikers, who have 7 points.
"I am very happy that my goal was enough to send the team to the next level," said Jimmy.
Meanwhile, Mmbelwa Warriors and Iponga will have to wait until Sunday to see if they can qualify for the national level as they will play their final matches against Chihame All Stars and Songwe Border, respectively.
