VIXENS SHINE IN GOLD AT 2024 RAIPLY NATIONAL VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT
The just ended 2024 Raiply National Volleyball Tournament has seen our ladies team, Vixens, emerging champions after thrashing Blue Eagles Ladies by a 3-1 victory.
The tournament finals were played at Katoto Volleyball Courts in Mzuzu where participating teams were drawn from all regions of the country.
Our men’s team, Lilongwe Spikers, however suffered a 3-2 defeat to Blue Eagles Men and ended up on position four. Still, this did not take away their smiles as they rode on the flawless victory of the Vixens who came back home with all that was up for grabs.
The “Heee Nivichi!” jubilations from our ladies further took celebrations of the tournament’s victory to a higher cloud when several of our team players were recognised for their outstanding performance over the weekend games.
The Best Setter of the tournament was our Vixen Sithe, and Spiker Nhlanhla Kwenda. The Most Valuable Player of the tournament was Emma Sakala of Vixens while the Best Receiver was Frank Makowa of the Men’s team. They all received medals that added to the collection of the prize money and trophy.
As the Vixens intend to defend the championship in the coming Raiply tournaments, the Lilongwe Spikers team plans to have a stronger comeback with refilled energies.
