Sail Maldives Rally Sail Maldives Rally on February 25, 2017, is the first event of its kind in the Maldives and will be the largest yacht rally to take place in the Indian Ocean.

Sail Maldives Rally is the first event of its kind in the Maldives, and will be the largest yacht rally to take place in the Indian Ocean. The rally will begin on February 25, 2017 at Uligamu and vessels will progress to various inhabited islands, as per the map all participants will be issued with. Each island the vessels stop at i

s organising a festival for the participants. Sail Maldives concludes in Addu Atoll, notable for the former British military base, RAF Gan, which was established during World War Two due to the deep, safe natural harbour. The area is also highly-regarded for the diversity of the local marine-life, which includes thresher sharks, tiger sharks and whales. The rally is expected to take 30-45 days. It will conclude in Addu City, Addu Atoll, with the launch of the Ocean Festival. Sail Maldives is the first and only yacht rally in the Maldives officially endorsed by the Maldives Government and Maldives tourism board.

The inaugural Sail Maldives yacht rally is off to a superb start, with a special festival thrown in honor of the sailors at their first scheduled stop, Kelaa Island. The entire island community got behind the rally and proudly showcased the unique Maldivian dancing, drumming, and culture to the part...
