Children need the freedom to learn, explore, and express themselves during training. Excessive parental direction can limit autonomy, confidence, and the coach–athlete relationship.

Running alone is not enough. Keep a close watch on what you eat, because nutrition is just as important as the miles you put in. Fuel your body well, and your performance will follow.

It was a pleasure welcoming Keyan from the Maldives National Surfing Team to the TEMPO Sport Science Lab.

This assessment marks a special milestone for us, as Keyan becomes the first competitive surfer to undergo performance testing at our lab. Surfing demands a unique combination of strength, power, balance, mobility, endurance, and resiliencw. Understanding those demands through objective testing allows us to train with purpose.

Over the next 12 months, TEMPO will have the privilege of working closely with Keyan through structured testing, monitoring, and strength & conditioning to support his long-term athletic development. This journey is about more than improving performance; it's about building a scientific foundation that helps athletes reach their full potential.

Excited to be part of the journey. Here's to a year of learning, progress, and pushing new boundaries, both in the lab and on the waves. 🌊🏄‍♂️

There is me and my daughter.
Athlete profiling is something I have started recently, and it was nice to do the fitness assessments of Sarah.

More exercise isn't always better.

A lot of people believe that working out more will always lead to better results, but that's a common misconception in fitness.

Progress actually comes from balancing training with recovery. Each workout stresses your body, but it's during rest that you get stronger and perform better.

If you push harder than your body can handle, you won't progress faster. Instead, you might feel tired, see your performance drop, get injured more easily, or even burn out.

The aim isn't to do as much exercise as possible.

Instead, focus on finding the right amount of exercise for your body, your goals, and how well you recover.

Sometimes, the best choice you can make is to know when to take a break.

WeRUN Maldives🇲🇻

WeRUN Maldives was founded by my brother and me with one simple purpose: to use our experience in health and fitness to inspire more people to move and build healthier communities.

It was a pleasure spending a couple of hours yesterday organising another casual social run. The Minivan Run started as a simple idea, and with the support and alignment of the relevant authorities, we were able to organise it in a more formal setting.

One of our goals was to test a new running route, and we're happy to see that many participants found it enjoyable, comfortable, and practical. We expected a good turnout, but it was even more rewarding to see so many new faces alongside familiar ones.

These may seem like small initiatives today, but we believe they have the potential to grow into something much bigger in the years ahead. Every community movement starts with a single step, and we're excited to continue building opportunities that encourage more people across the Maldives to be active.

Thank you to everyone who joined us. We look forward to seeing you at the next run.

The fitness industry is always coming up with new trends, like new workouts, diets, supplements, and promises of quicker results.

Innovation matters, but just because something is popular doesn’t mean it’s proven.

Science doesn’t care if something is trending. It wants to know if it actually works.

We shouldn’t just follow every trend. Instead, we need to look at the evidence, use our experience, and think critically before recommending anything.

Trends come and go, but solid principles last.

Before you look for what’s new, think about what’s already proven.
