The Maldives Olympic Committee (MOC), in collaboration with Advocating the Rights of Children (ARC) and UNICEF Maldives, held a Stakeholder Consultation on Child Safeguarding in Sports on 22 October 2026 at Meerumaa Event Hall.
The event brought together athletes, coaches, National Sports Associations and key stakeholders to review safeguarding practices, identify challenges and discuss recommendations for strengthening child protection in sport.
The consultation will contribute to The State of Child Safeguarding in Sport in the Maldives study by gathering perspectives from children, athletes, coaches, parents, sports officials and organisations. Their input will help establish a baseline of current safeguarding awareness and practice, show how the 2022 MOC policy is being put into effect, and identify gaps in reporting, responsibilities and support. The findings will inform practical recommendations and provide a reference point for measuring progress in the years ahead.
The consultation highlighted progress since the launch of MOC’s Child Safeguarding Policy in 2022 and the importance of continued collaboration to ensure a safe and supportive sporting environment for every child.
