Just as the northern hemisphere begins to think of shorter days and the need for warmer clothes, the offshore racing community looks to grab one more chance to indulge their passion for testing skill, resilience and determination on the water over two or more days.

Starting from Grand Harbour, annually in October, the 606 nautical mile Rolex Middle Sea Race has delivered on this restless desire every year it has run since 1968.

With the 47th edition scheduled to start on Saturday, 17 October, and entries due to close on Friday, 18 September (late entries will be accepted until 25 September at organizer’s discretion), the entry list has expanded tremendously in the space of a few days and is on course to match the heights of recent years.

Gery Trentesaux’s Pogo RC Courrier Pogo will join the 2026 Rolex Middle Sea Race fleet fresh from finishing second overall in the RORC Cherbourg Race 2026.

They finished just one minute seven seconds behind Midnight Blues on the water and took second overall by only two minutes three seconds after IRC correction.

In just over a month, Pogo RC Courrier Pogo will line up in Valletta for the start of the 2026 edition. Trentesaux, as a 2018 race winner, will bring his experience to the race in what is set to be another captivating edition.

The countdown is on!

Congratulations to Black Jack 100, winner of the Palermo–Montecarlo after completing the Mediterranean course in 47 hours, 26 minutes and 44 seconds.

It is another impressive Mediterranean performance from the 100-foot maxi, which also claimed line honours at the 2025 Rolex Middle Sea Race.

A familiar name at the front of the fleet and another outstanding offshore achievement. Congratulations to the entire Black Jack 100 team! 👏

This is our course, this is why we call it the great adventure. It has everything you could and would want for a 606nm offshore race.

On 17 October, the Rolex Middle Sea Race fleet will leave Grand Harbour and take on 606 nautical miles of one of offshore sailing’s most spectacular and demanding courses.

From Malta to Sicily, past Stromboli, Pantelleria and Lampedusa, and back to Malta, the countdown is now very real.

Preparation sharpens. Anticipation builds. The race is getting closer.

There are few starts in offshore sailing like this. Surrounded by the history, scale and beauty of Grand Harbour, the Rolex Middle Sea Race begins with a moment that stays with every sailor who experiences it.

The crowds, the coastline, the sound, the anticipation, all before the fleet leaves Malta behind and takes on 606 nautical miles of one of the sport’s most demanding courses.

Thus is where the challenge begins.
