h a big heart, a passion for the art of performing as well as investing in the future of the art of ballet. Olivia Dow’s ballet school is based in Naxxar with ballet lessons occurring in two studios just a few blocks away from each other. The school’s history is firmly based in providing ‘the performing experience’ for any dancer from the tender age of 3 years old. The young danseur or danseuse is given the chance to stand on that stage beaming with pride as he or she dances to their hearts' content (and waves to mummy when they get the chance!)

Olivia’s ballet year starts at the beginning of September and finishes at the end of June. During the month of July the young budding stars of the school prepare for their much awaited performance, the highlight of the year! Performing on a stage allows the dancers’ confidence to build and allows them to be aware of the importance of performing, something they must carry as a responsibility in their ballet classes. The ballet students are encouraged to take part in this performance and fill the stage with their presence and their smile! During rehearsals the students also experience working as a team whilst finding the strengths of their own individuality, and, of course they realise the importance of rehearsing itself … the determination it takes to push themselves beyond their expectations. The Olivia Dow School of Russian Ballet is a member of the Russian Ballet Society and C.I.D. The qualifications provided by the school are accredited by the C.D.E.T. and, via the partnership with Rock School Ltd., have qualifications recognised by OfQual.

Although the day is over and the night is dark, our memories will still live on but not for just another day… the sweet or sad memories of our loved ones, we will continue to share amongst our friends and families. The day is nearly over but today marked the 27th anniversary of Olivia Dow School of Russian Ballet, training and coaching Russian Classical Ballet - Legat System. Olivia and her dear John opened the doors of the school's ballet studio in Gharghur for the first time on the 23rd of September 1993 for a handful of very young enthusiastic students, having then moved on to an official studio in Naxxar in September 1997. A dream fulfilled and rightly so as these very young enthusiastic pupils, now in their 30's, have flourished in their own separate ways including those countless other pupils who were caught up and embraced the artistic web Olivia and John created over the years. A few have now beautiful offspring; others pursued an uprising career instead; quite a few accomplished their teaching qualifications; some continued their love for dance in different forms; and many more who simply left to move on in their life. "If Ballet be the Food of Love, Dance on... Dance Little Ballerinas Dance", the last ballet production set up in 2019 appropriately calls out to all the pupils who had formed part of the school, they will never be forgotten!

Further to the official directives issued by the State regarding temporary closure of schools and parents’/teachers’ concerns; we feel it is in everybody’s interest that we follow suit and we shall not be holding any lessons as from tomorrow 13th March to 20th March, both dates included. According to the situation next week, we will then advise when lessons can recommence.
