Always be kind ❤️ Stand your ground, connect, feel, learn to unlearn, trust, follow and guide, love, and always be kind ❤️
"Always be kind."
These are the words that stuck with me after having a chat with Agnes. You will be amazed by her way of perceiving life, places, food, and people. She speaks with a lot of passion but you will feel the stillness of her soul – and it is really calming. How did she develop this kind of zest for life?
Born and raised in Budapest, Hungary, Agnes has always been carefree. She emphasized the importance of freedom – freedom to 'unlearn' what the society and our background has taught us – to be able to interpret things the way we understand them and their significance to us. We have to understand ourselves and what is inside us to be able to perceive things in a more personal and deeper level. Self-discovery is essential. As well as being conscious.
Aside from being a business consultant of vegan chains locally and abroad, Agnes is also a yoga teacher and an energy healer. She is passionate about the mind and body connection and how certain bodily sensations are just indicators of our mental state – consciously and unconsciously. Thus, certain practices such as meditation can be a healing tool to mend our internal sufferings.
Agnes admitted that she has just become vegan three years ago after some years of being vegetarian. She has encountered a vegan family in Malta who inspired her to make this shift and it was a success! I asked Agnes about the most challenging part of having this change. In my mind, I thought it was probably having a random craving for meat. But she did not have that! She heard that meat cravings usually come from the microbes in our gut that usually deceive us to get what they want – and what they usually want is not healthy for us! They know how to make us feel miserable when they're not fed with their cravings.
This information actually blew my mind! I did further research about it and found that it's scientifically true! Microbes can actually change our taste buds and produce neurotransmitters to give us that rewarding feeling when our cravings are satisfied. Good news is, these microbes have a short life-span. So, changing your entire diet for days or weeks can build new microbes that crave for healthy and nutritious food!
Agnes did two weeks of detox and cleansing. It was not an easy commitment but it was definitely rewarding. She emphasized that if you want to commit to something, you have to commit 'now'. Mindset is the most important element to focus on. It can be complex and challenging but you have to set it straight. And to be able to build a strong mindset, you have to determine your reasons why you're doing this change. For her, it's her health and her love for animals.
Lastly, your change must also be inclined to your beliefs. Agnes believes in the importance of kindness. Kindness towards your soul, other people, and animals. To her, turning vegan is her way of being kind.
Her entire words are, "just be kind always; and, this is how I can be kind."
