Malta Classic's Mdina Grand Prix has, for the past 14 years, attracted brands that were never afraid to put the best to the test. Malta Classic's iconic Grand Prix returns for its 13th edition to host the exhilarating races outside Mdina’s fortified walls. On Saturday, cars are put to the test on a track of tight bends, sweeping curves and inclines that wind their way through a valley of vineyards and terraced hills. This gripping day comes to a close with timed drives, determining the starting order of Sunday’s Mdina Grand Prix. The 8th October presents the ultimate adrenaline-fuelled experience for both drivers and spectators alike. Categorized by speed, power and era, the World’s most iconic and sought-after cars take to the circuit in a thrilling race to the finish line, as the unforgiving nature of the Malta Classic circuit brings out the very best of performance by both drivers and their classic racing automobiles. Over 70 pre-1976 cars participated at the last event in 2019 Malta Classic, including some genuinely unique vehicles. Participants travelled from around Europe to take part and we look forward to seeing more beautiful classics this year. The Malta Classic has its origins in October 2007, when French entrepreneur and classic car enthusiast Thierry Giovannoni organised Malta’s first ever Classic Car Grand Prix on the ring road of Valletta, bringing some of Europe’s finest classic cars to Malta to tour the island and race wheel to wheel on the Valletta circuit. In April 2009 enthusiasts brought together by this event set up the Valletta Grand Prix Foundation to carry on what Giovannoni had started. In 2011 the Malta Classic was transferred to its current home in Mdina, where it celebrates vintage style and speed against an historic backdrop.

Sad News this evening.

We have just learnt that one of our drivers Dion Borg has sadly passed away.

Dion was a regular at our events, always supportive of the Malta Classic, and a true favourite around the paddock. His passion for Fiats and Italian cars was well known, and it was often the source of friendly banter, humour, and good conversation among drivers and officials.

All of us at Malta Classic extend our deepest condolences to his family and friends during this very difficult time.

Dion, you will be sorely missed.

May you rest in peace.
