A huge congrats to Debbie & Martin on smashing their Rec & Tec Sidemount courses! 🙏

They arrived curious, switched on, asking questions, challenging themselves and genuinely hungry to learn.

And they never stopped!

They listened, thought about what they were doing, asked why, then went back and did it again. That willingness to learn and accept that there is always something to improve is what makes good divers GREAT!

For me, that kind of attitude is worth far more than any card. After all, "plastic" is simply a by-product of learning, nothing more!

Guys, you worked bloody hard and supported each other brilliantly! Well done to both of you and welcome to Sidemount Society! 🤙

Halfway through their Rec & Tec Sidemount courses, Debbie & Martin are really starting to find their rhythm! 🤙

Today was all about teamwork!

From communications and positioning to problem solving and managing workload when the pressure starts to build.

And these two work bloody well together! 😎

Calm, efficient and switched on, they communicate naturally, maintain great positioning and manage increasing workload without letting stress take over.

That’s what good team diving is all about - not just being able to perform the skill but being able to think, communicate and solve problems together when things get busy.

And there’s still plenty more to come! 😜

A huge welcome to Debbie & Martin, who’ve decided to take a break from the Swiss sunshine and join us here for a week of training! 🤙

Debbie is taking on Rec Sidemount, while Martin is going for Tech - Day 1 was all about theory.

And it’s already very clear these two are serious!

Curious minds, plenty of questions, genuinely hungry for knowledge and constantly looking to improve. That’s exactly the attitude I love to see in my students. ❤️

After a few minor adjustments to their Stealth systems, we hit the water and started putting the theory into practice.

What a great start! 💪

It’s gonna be a seriously good week of training! 🤙

A huge congrats to Alexander Moeller on completing his Sidemount course - and he absolutely smashed it! 🤙

Alex is a perfect example of something I genuinely believe in:

The best divers don’t need to prove how good they are! They don’t care about collecting cards, showing off or telling everyone how “awesome” they are. They don’t need to feed their egos…

And that’s exactly what this gent is all about!

He’s humble. He asks questions. He listens. He genuinely cares about improving and becoming a better diver - not just collecting another card.

That’s the attitude that makes all the difference.

And guess what?

It shows!

He’s not only a great guy - he’s a bloody good diver too!

Always a pleasure to train a fellow instructor and this time we welcome Alex, who’s joining us for a change of perspective! 🤙

Alex is no stranger to technical diving and having completed a series of technical courses all in a twinset, he came to a simple conclusion - carrying heavy weight on his back for the rest of his diving career is not exactly what he had in mind. 😂

So, time to see what this sidemount fuss is all about! Let’s loose the weight and see what happens! 😜

Technical Sidemount… it’s not about just carrying more tanks - it’s about being able to manage complexity without losing control!
More tanks, more gases, more workload… the fundamentals never change!
It’s all about trim, buoyancy, control and awareness!

Great couple of days with Tomasz Gancarczyk!
We started off with a single stage and progressively turned up the workload, adding more complexity while keeping those fundamentals firmly in place.
Hard work, plenty of repetition, sore fingers but ultimately, a seriously impressive progression!

Great work dude!

And as a reward… tomorrow we go have some fun!

A huge welcome back to Tomasz Gancarczyk, who’s here to take his Sidemount skills to the next level… this time, with multiple tanks!

It’s not his first time here training with us, so he already knew it wasn’t gonna be a walk in the park… but that’s exactly what he signed up for. 😎

We start off with just a single stage and work through a series of stage management drills… and to make things easier, we do it whilst hanging on the line - because apparently, managing a stage isn’t challenging enough on its own! 😂

Great start! Great work! Tomorrow we add more tanks!

Technical DPV ride along Gozo’s north coast with Asia and Przemek Bułat - Xwejni to Triple Arch, Double Arch and the canyons of Anchor Reef - breathtaking structures, endless scenery and some seriously epic flying!

As far as DPV rides go, it simply doesn’t get any better than this. 🚀🤙

They summed it up perfectly: “It was the best dive of our lives!”

Great to see Asia and Przemek Bułat , who are back on the island for some proper tech diving… and this time, they’re both in Sidemount! 🤙

Having recently completed his Sidemount course back in Poland, Przemek is kicking things off with a technical workshop, aimed at polishing his stage handling skills - and to make things a little more interesting… we put him straight on the line! 😜

He says his muscles are aching, his fingers are sore - all in all, a successful session indeed! 🤙🤣🤙

Laura Müller has been listening to me going on about how awesome Sidemount is for ages now… and today, she finally got to experience it for herself!

Expectations were high, to say the least, so no pressure on me whatsoever! 🤣🤣🤣

But this is what she had to say afterwards:

“Today, I fell in love with diving all over again… That feeling of freedom, the moment your head goes quiet and you’re completely mindful and centred.”

And then she added:

“I’m not diving BM ever again!”

I think she liked it! It was quite GUT! 😜🤙😂
