Overseas RUFC was the first civilian rugby club in Malta and was created on the 11th November, 1946, a significant date in history. Overseas developed the game here, coaching and encouraging local enthusiasts to participate and eventually create their own clubs. We have an unmatched history and success, and a philosophy of playing in a way which reflects the game's traditional values. Each year we
welcome new players from around the world as they join the very special Overseas family. Many comment that it is like playing for the Barbarians, which is quite a compliment. The club continues to contribute to the development of the game in Malta, drawing upon the extensive experience of it's members and players. Over the years, a number of players from both our men's and women's sections have been chosen to represent Malta, something we are very proud of. Further back in our history, two of our players went on to captain England, a feat which will probably never be surpassed, and others became Presidents and senior officials in leading clubs in the major rugby playing nations.
