The Malta men’s national rugby team beat Austria 39–13 yesterday at the Ta’ Qali National Stadium, securing promotion to the Rugby Europe Trophy.

The match was a major promotion decider, with Malta needing the win to move up from the Conference level. And they delivered it in style, in front of home support.

It was also a landmark day for the sport locally, with the fixture taking place at the National Stadium, a special setting for what turned into a proper Malta sporting moment.

A big result, a big crowd moment, and now a big step forward for Maltese rugby.
