It was Team Rybakina and Team Fonseca's night at the RTC Summer Team Tournament on Tuesday evening with the Rybakina's climbing at the top of the standings following the first week.
Captain Christian Xuereb led the way with an outstanding performance alongside Emman Xuereb to grab the first two points of the day in the As doubles. Then it was up to Adrian Sciberras to steal the limelight with a steady (in more sense than one) showing partnered by the ever-athletic Mo Grech in an entertaining Bs doubles.
In the other encounter, Team Fonseca had a perfect night with a couple of wins which see them climb to 2nd place overall. Stephen Lughermo & Malcolm Scerri produced the shock of the night when they overcame Team Auguer's wildcard A couple coming from behind to edge the match by the odd game. In the Bs doubles it was the same scenario with Christian Serpina & Alida Borg keeping cool in the final games to clinch a further 2 points for their team.
So at the end of Week 1, it's Team Rybakina with a slender lead ahead of Team Fonseca. However, all teams have shown that they have the qualities to fight for the top spot. See you next week! 🎾

It was a very balanced start to the RTC Summer Team Tournament on Monday evening with all teams registering their first points.
Team Auger edged ahead of the overall classification with Laura Johnson & Rosa Taborda claiming an important point in a topsy-turvy Cs doubles draw against Team Fonseca's Jacob Micallef & Louise Aquilina. Then it was up to Trevor Rutter to secure a steady win in the As singles to put his team on top of the table.
In the other encounter, Team Svitolina and Team Rybakina shared the spoils with each team grabbing a tight win. Francis Spiteri & Paula Gambin set the tone for Team Svitolina with a close but convincing victory in the Cs doubles. However, Team Rybakina drew the encounter level thanks to Josef Cristiano's nail-biting win in the As singles.
So, it's Team Auger with the early lead but all teams are close behind. Still early days! See you tomorrow for further action🎾

A big well done to Silvia Cecchia for an excellent performance as runner-up, and thank you to all the ladies who took part and made the event such a fantastic evening of tennis and great competition.

🏆 Congratulations to Bojan Tasic for claiming the title at Friday’s H2Only Purified Drinking Water H2Only Purified Drinking Water Tiebreak-Ten Tournament (Division C)!

A big well done to Mo Grech for a fantastic performance, finishing as runner-up after a strong run throughout the event. Also a sincere thank you to all players who took part and helped make it another great evening of competitive tennis.

🏆 A massive shoutout to Andrew Stafrace for taking home the trophy at Friday’s H2Only Purified Drinking Water Tiebreak-Ten Tournament (Div B)!

​Kudos to Sergey Kasatkin for an incredible performance as runner-up, and a big thanks to everyone who stepped onto the court and brought the energy.

Congratulations to Duncan Stahl for winning the H2Only Purified Drinking Water Tiebreak-Ten Tournament played on Friday – a fantastic achievement!
Big well done also to runner-up Marco Mercieca for a great performance, and to all participants for making it such an enjoyable night.
Next up, the Division B tournament takes place on Friday 8th May!

Congratulations to Peter Khiev & Emman Xuereb (Div A) and Cory Greenland & Bojan Tasić (Div B) for winning the Frank Dimech One-Day Doubles Tournament. A big well done also to runners-up Stephen Lughermo & Sergey Kasatkin (Div A) and Adrian Sciberras & David Marks (Div B).

This tournament was dedicated to the memory of Frank Dimech, a valued ex-committee member. A special thank you to Frank's family for kindly sponsoring the trophies.

Thanks to all participants for a lovely day of tennis in a friendly atmosphere. Looking forward to the next tournaments 🎾
