Yachting Malta Ltd

Yachting Malta Ltd Yachting Malta's role is to develop the potential of the Yachting Industry in Malta

Yachting Malta is a Public Private Partnership between the Government of Malta and the Royal Malta Yacht Club. One of Yachting Malta’s main aims is to promote Malta as a yachting destination. YM aims to bring the best out of a joint public and private experience via one consolidated effort. YM has also been created to support and assist private effort and initiatives - to make sure that good ideas

and initiatives are never wasted. Another aim is to identify and attract to Malta new high profile yachting events including regattas, class sailing and power racing events, boat shows, conferences and other activities related to yachting whilst supporting already established events. Another aspect is to serve as a consultative base which aims to ‘listen’ to all the stakeholders involved via a transparent and open door policy. As a result YM will provide advisory feedback and improvement advice to government and the relevant authorities. YM will also develop a clear strategy together with a practical, doable yearly business plan in order to place Malta in a prominent position on the international yachting map promoting Malta’s leading name, reputation, competitivity and lengthy tradition as a yachting and cruising destination. YM's target is to achieve a mark-up in overall quality of the Maltese yachting product and achieve excellence. YM’s goal is also to support the increase of the range and volume of berthing capabilities both Malta and Gozo. Last but not least Yachting Malta aims to foster and promote sailing and associated international activities with emphasis on the young. In doing so, promoting a spirit of teamwork, sportsmanship, cooperation and a sense of self-fulfillment within the framework of competitive sailing. YM aims to widen the reach of sailing as a sport to the widest potential of new sailors of all ages possible by assisting sailing clubs in their ventures in preparation for today's and tomorrows yachting and racing needs. YM will also support clubs in order to enhance competitive coaching services and attract new racing events including European and world championships.

Today is World Ocean Day.

At Yachting Malta, the sea is at the heart of everything we support —whether that is in governance, in the sport, or in education.

We work alongside the people and organisations who keep Malta's maritime and yachting community moving forward.

Today is a reminder that the ocean we depend on deserves the same care and commitment we bring to our work.

Polar ice is melting at an accelerating rate. Sea levels are rising, and ocean systems that regulate our climate are being disrupted.

The way we respond has never been more urgent.

But we are not starting from zero. Proven solutions are already scaling across energy, nature, and infrastructure.

The signal is clear. Our response must match the moment.

Viva Malta Racing Team

Viva Malta at the 71st Tre Golfi Regatta!

The Viva Malta crew has returned from a fantastic experience at the iconic Tre Golfi Regatta, racing 156 nautical miles through the Gulf of Naples, around Capri, Ischia, and Ponza Island before returning to Naples.

The race saw light wind conditions throughout — classic small boats racing — with the team making a calculated risk that saw them finish in a respectable 5th in Class and 105th in an overall ORC World Championship fleet of 216 boats.

As Co-skipper Steve Carter put it, this was about far more than the result. A crew bringing together a wide spectrum of abilities — all with Rolex Middle Sea Race experience but largely new to this boat — gelled brilliantly, looking out for one another every step of the way. In Steve's own words: "It was not just about racing, though very important — the impact of a positive experience is far reaching."

A result to build on, and memories to last. 🇲🇹

⚓ Celebrating Women in Maritime ⚓

This 18th May, Yachting Malta joins the International Maritime Organization in marking the IMO International Day for Women in Maritime.

We celebrate the talented women shaping our industry — from the helm to the harbour, from boardrooms to boatyards. Their skill, leadership and passion are charting a stronger, more inclusive course for the maritime sector.

Today, and every day, we stand committed to promoting gender equality, supporting the recruitment and retention of women in maritime, and raising the profile of women across the yachting and wider maritime community.

Here's to the women who navigate, innovate and inspire. 🌊
