LaSalle Celebrates Major Success! ๐
Last Sunday, 13th September 2026, marked a major milestone for LaSalle Badminton Club, its first major success since its revival in September 2024.
LaSalle players delivered an outstanding performance, winning 16 of the 24 medals available across the U/13, U/17 and Senior categories, in both menโs and womenโs events. The club claimed 5 of the 6 titles and 4 of the 6 runner-up places.
In the Senior categories, Olympian and National Champion Matthew Abela won the menโs title, while Gabriela Skorkowska produced an impressive and composed performance to take the womenโs title. Matthew Galea added another success by finishing runner-up in the menโs event.
The clubโs youth players were equally impressive, collecting 13 of the 16 available podium places in the U/13 and U/17 categories. The U/17 competition was a clean sweep, with LaSalle taking all three podium positions in both the boysโ and girlsโ events. Charlie Jia defeated Julian Zammit in the boysโ final, while Julia Galea overcame Emma Bartoli in the girlsโ final.
The U/13 girlsโ final between Jade Bartoli and Katrika Grima was another highlight, showcasing the impressive level and potential of LaSalleโs young players.
These results are a testament to the hard work of the players, coaches and everyone involved in the club. Much of the development of these young athletes is also supported by the dedicated coaching team at Evolve Badminton Academy, who continue to help nurture Maltaโs future badminton talent.
With around 100 active registered members, LaSalle has established itself as Maltaโs largest badminton club โ and this outstanding performance has shown that it is also a force to be reckoned with on the court ๐
