Sailing under the Maltese flag, the crew of Viva Malta the Maltese Offshore Sailing National Boat has returned from the Palermo-Monte Carlo offshore race with a second-place finish in ORC Class 1 and third overall in ORC, following one of the most eventful editions of the race in recent memory.

Most of Viva Malta’s crew members are part of our SB20 sailing community with co skippers Matthew Micallef, Nicky Fenech and the our indefatigable Boat Captain Ramon Sant Hill both well known on the local circuit.

The race, covers 500 nautical miles from Palermo across the Tyrrhenian Sea and along the French Riviera to Monte Carlo. A long challenging race but at the same be it’s all smiles for our Maltese Team. Well done to all the crew, support crews and the Malta Sailing Federation. Special thanks to the Malta Sailing Federation BeActive - SportMaltaYachting Malta Ltd

🌊 Today is World Ocean Day β€” and for us, every day is Ocean Day.

As the Viva Malta National Offshore Sailing Team, the sea isn't just our playground β€” it's our home, our passion, and our responsibility.

This year's World Ocean Day theme asks us all to Reimagine our relationship with the ocean. For offshore sailors, that hits close to home. We race on these waters, we read them, we respect them. And we see, first-hand, how vital it is that we protect them.

From the deep blue stretches of the Med to the waters right here around our Maltese islands, we are committed to being ambassadors not just for our sport β€” but for the sea itself.

Happy World Ocean Day. Protect what you love. πŸ’™

Not much wind today for the Seajet sB20 May regatta. Still the boats went out and waited for the breeze. Some pictures with the sailors waiting in Vittoriosa for a breeze and then racing. Viva Malta at the 71st Tre Golfi Regatta!

The Viva Malta crew has returned from a fantastic experience at the iconic Tre Golfi Regatta, racing 156 nautical miles through the Gulf of Naples, around Capri, Ischia, and Ponza Island before returning to Naples.

The race saw light wind conditions throughout β€” classic small boats racing β€” with the team making a calculated risk that saw them finish in a respectable 5th in Class and 105th in an overall ORC World Championship fleet of 216 boats.

As Co-skipper Steve Carter put it, this was about far more than the result. A crew bringing together a wide spectrum of abilities β€” all with Rolex Middle Sea Race experience but largely new to this boat β€” gelled brilliantly, looking out for one another every step of the way. In Steve's own words: "It was not just about racing, though very important β€” the impact of a positive experience is far reaching."

A result to build on, and memories to last. πŸ‡²πŸ‡Ή
