Meet the Mother Set. She came to the rescue of a bunch of ultimate frisbee players who during the first lockdown in Myanmar were going nuts with the lack of exercise and games. So in June 2020, in between two lockdowns, she flew in to Yangon.
This picture was taken Saturday the 6th of June 2020 and it was the very first time we set up the Set, at that time the only one in Yangon.
The first spot we set up game was under the hanging bridge in People's park where we would still be if only the grass wouldn't suffer so badly from our games.
She has been in the care of many Keepers, responsible for its maintenance and transporation to and from the many parks where we've played. As more and more people joined spikeball, more sets were needed and so the DIY lobster trap set, the Pro-set and the set of Muscular guy followed. A bit condescending, the Mother set, an official Spikeball © standard set who suffered nothing but minor net damage after tens of thousands of games, rain or shine, is now by some called the "practice" set.
It doesn't matter to her. She's traveled to different places in Myanmar and continues to do so. What's more, at this very moment she is on her way to Mon state, inviting people to the joy of the game of Spikeball.
Thanks to Kasia Szeniawska for bringing the set and the game to Yangon, and thanks to players of the first hour Noriel Oraa, Conrad Guyra , Fraser Stuart, Joselito Ebro for sharing the joy of the game!
