4. Age It is cultural exploration and assimilation.

We chose this path to explore Capoeira as a universal art form not bound by the destructive social practices that is common among diaspora Brazilian teachers. It is not a denigration of a whole culture and it cannot be separate from the Brazilian culture but the quest is its um universality beyond Brazil. In Malay, we have a saying, “Buang yang keroh, ambil yang jernih.” It means to take what is Useful and dia Card what is not. Capoeira itself is about adaptability.

Capoeira is the epitome of adaptation and resilience. It embodies much of the SDGs and has a deep relationship with the land and nature.

We are pleased to see it highlighted in this reel by our State Assembly Person Dato’ Seri Azmin Ali who was the first of our supporters with the Little River Festival in 2019.

And we are grateful to our friends at Grupo Capoeira Cordão de Ouro Malaysia who stood with us at the River Festival 2025. We have been on a hiatus for the past 5 years, finding our feet but the Toque de Berimbau still plays in our hearts. We will be back.

This is a sweet way to wrap up 2025 and motivation to unwrap 2026.

Combat sports can help children build character and cope with life’s challenges, provided they are practised under proper adult supervision, say experts.

Joel Low of the Malaysian Society of Clinical Psychology said such competitions can be excellent platforms for children to learn values that mirror real-life experiences.

“Winning, losing, striving, training and everything else that goes into competitions and in this case, a martial arts bout, are incredibly important lessons for a child to learn, as they can be excellent proxies for living life,” he told FMT.

The Jane Goodall Institute has learned this morning, Wednesday, October 1, 2025, that Dr. Jane Goodall DBE, UN Messenger of Peace and Founder of the Jane Goodall Institute has passed away due to natural causes. She was in California as part of her speaking tour in the United States.

Dr. Goodall’s discoveries as an ethologist revolutionized science, and she was a tireless advocate for the protection and restoration of our natural world.

The Jane Goodall Institute has learned this morning, Wednesday, October 1, 2025, that Dr. Jane Goodall DBE, UN Messenger of Peace and Founder of the Jane Goodall Institute has passed away due to natural causes. She was in California as part of her speaking tour in the United States.
