Operasi SAR Muhammad Hawari ditamatkan dan disambung tahun depan
Kathmandu:Operasi mencari dan menyelamat (SAR) pendaki Malaysia Everest 2023 (ME 2023), orang kurang upaya (OKU) pendengaran, Muhammad Hawari Hashim,33,(Hawari) ditamatkan hari ini dan akan disambung tahun depan.
Ketua Misi ME2023,Azim Afif Ishak berkata, pihaknya sudah menjalankan operasi SAR bermula 19 Mei sehingga 15 Jun 2023 namun masih belum menemui sebarang petunjuk.
Menurutnya,permit khas pencarian menggunakan dron dan SAR udara yang diluluskan pihak berkuasa Nepal juga sudah tamat dan aktiviti pendakian ke puncak Everest sudah ditutup bermula 29 Mei lalu.
Katanya,operasi SAR yang diadakan semalam (Khamis) turut mengesan satu objek antara Kem Dua dan Kem Tiga namun selepas dikenalpasti ia hanyalah longgokkan sampah dan khemah yang diterbangkan angin.
"Objek berkenaan dikesan melalui gambar dan video yang dirakam dron pada 8 Jun lalu menunjukkan seperti jasad Hawari berdasarkan warna sut yang digunakan beliau ketika misi pendakian namun sengaja tidak mendedahkannya kerana ia masih belum disahkan lagi," katanya pada sidang media di sini hari ini.
Yang turut hadir,Kuasa Usaha Sementara Kedutaan Besar Malaysia di Kathmandu, Mohd Fadzle Abu Hasan; Pengarah Pioneer Adventure,Nivesh Karki dan ketua malim gunung,Nga Tenji.
Dua ahli keluarga Hawari turut hadir iaitu adik bongsu,Mohamad Ismail dan Azhar Ilias.
Misi pendakian ME2023 ini dikendalikan oleh syarikat Pioneer Adventure yang berpusat di Nepal dengan menyediakan tenaga malim gunung,logistik, dan makanan sepanjang misi ke puncak Everest.
Sebelum ini Kerajaan melalui Kementerian Belia dan Sukan (KBS) menghulurkan bantuan kewangan sebanyak RM1.48 juta dan Kerajaan Pulau Pinang RM500 ribu kepada Kelab Eksplorasi Altitud bagi operasi SAR Hawari.
Azim berkata,operasi SAR terakhir yang diadakan semalam sepatutnya dilakukan pada Selasa lalu namun disebabkan cuaca buruk pasukan SAR dan helikopter tidak dapat masuk ke lokasi yang dikesan.
Menurutnya,tiga malim gunung bersama seorang jurugambar yang ditugaskan ke lokasi itu telah menjumpai objek itu dan mengesahkan ia bukan jasad Hawari.
Katanya,operasi SAR ini dijangka disambung pada musim pendakian 2024 namun perkara itu akan dibincangkan terlebih dahulu dengan pihak yang berkenaan.
"Status Hawari diletakkan sebagai 'orang hilang' kerana jasadnya masih belum ditemui sehingga kini,"katanya.
Azim menambah, penamatan operasi SAR ini juga sudah dibincangkan dan mendapat nasihat daripada pihak kedutaan Malaysia di Nepal.
Jelasnya,operator pengendali aktiviti pendakian ke puncak Everest di Nepal turut menyarankan agar operasi SAR ini ditangguhkan demi keselamatan pasukan SAR dan faktor cuaca yang tidak menentu ketika ini.

Muhammad Hawari's SAR operation has stopped and will resume next year.
Kathmandu: The search and rescue (SAR) effort for Malaysian Everest 2023 (ME 2023) climber Muhammad Hawari Hashim, 33 (Hawari), who is deaf, concluded today and will resume next year.
Azim Afif Ishak, the head of the ME2023 mission, stated that his team has already conducted SAR operations from May 19 to June 15, 2023, but has yet to locate any clues.
According to him, the Nepalese authorities' special permit for searching with drones and aerial SAR has also expired, and climbing activities to the summit of Everest have been restricted since May 29.
He stated that the SAR operation conducted yesterday (Thursday) detected an object between Camps Two and Three; however, after being identified, it was shown to be a mound of trash and a tent blown away by the wind.
"The object in question was detected through photos and video recorded by a drone on June 8, showing it to be Hawari's body based on the color of the suit he used during the climbing mission," he said at a press conference here today.
The Malaysian Embassy's Chargรฉ d'Affaires in Kathmandu, Mohd Fadzle Abu Hasan, the Director of Pioneer Adventure, Nivesh Karki, and the chief mountain priest, Nga Tenji, were also present.
Two Hawari family members were also present: the youngest brother, Mohamad Ismail, and Azhar Ilias.
The Pioneer Adventure Company, based in Nepal, manages the ME2023 climbing mission, providing mountain guides, supplies, and food throughout the journey to the summit of Everest.
Previously, the Federal Government, through the Ministry of Youth and Sports (KBS), provided RM1.48 million, and the Penang State Government contributed RM500 thousand, to the Altitude Exploration Club for the Hawari SAR operation.
Azim stated that the previous SAR mission, which took place yesterday, was meant to take place last Tuesday, but owing to severe weather, the SAR crew and helicopter were unable to access the suspected area.
According to him, three mountain Sherpa and a photographer deployed to the location discovered the object and confirmed that it was not Hawari's body.
This SAR operation, he said, is expected to continue in the 2024 climbing season, but the topic will first be reviewed with the relevant parties.
"Hawari's status was changed to "missing person' because his body has yet to be found," he explained.
Azim further stated that the Malaysian embassy in Nepal had discussed and given advice on the discontinuation of the SAR operation.
The operator of the climbing expedition to the summit of Everest in Nepal emphasized that the postponement of this SAR mission was necessary for the safety of the SAR team, considering the current uncertain weather conditions.
