⚽ Tactical Drill – 4 Defenders + 2 Holding Midfielders (6v4)

🎯 Objective:

- improve build-up structure with a back four + double pivot;
- develop central midfield involvement under pressure;
- train defensive transition after losing possession.

🧩 Required Equipment:

- flat markers (cones);
- multiple footballs.

👥 Players:

- 6 attackers (blue) → 4 defenders + 2 central midfielders;
- 4 defenders (red).

📍 Organization:

A central zone is marked inside the playing area.
Only the following players are allowed inside this zone:
- the 2 central midfielders (double pivot);
- the 4 red players (defenders/pressing team).
The back four (blue defenders) must remain in their zones and cannot enter the central area.
The red team is allowed to press across the entire field.

✅ Exercise Description:

The drill starts with a 6 vs 4 possession scenario.
The blue team (back four + two midfielders) aims to:
- maintain possession;
- connect with the central midfielders;
- build play under pressure.

🔄 Transition Phase:

When the red team wins possession, they immediately:
- attack the main goal;
- try to finish as quickly as possible.

The blue team must react immediately:

- recover quickly;
- block the attack;
- prevent the red team from scoring.
