Getting regular news from village in Imlil by WhatsApp now for twenty days efter the horrible earthquake. The local news from friends there are hard to grasp. Local authorities, village council, men, women and children are doing all they can with bare hands and the small means available.

Houses, cars, streets and so on are in bad and dangerous shape. The village is destroyed. There are not enough tents. This is deep trauma for us humans to lose our homes like that. There are no insurances.

Aid is said to be coming but it is slow for many reasons and priorities. Now, twenty days after the earthquake, only one American association supports the villagers with dinner. Actually I get impression that there is nothing else.

As a European I so would like our Union to help also.

We have some tents now near the guest house on top of the village hill.

The middle of the village where I live is all destroyed and most of the houses there will fall today or tomorrow, we think, including our own house.

The guest house on top of the village hill is safe for now, but we don't dare to sleep in it.

We still feel small earthquakes coming.

DON'T CANCEL...πŸ‡²πŸ‡¦πŸ‡²πŸ‡¦

If you have your trip to Morocco planned, I encourage you not to cancel it;
Maybe update your itinerary;
But don't cancel;
---
Because Marrakech depends on tourism;
All these families in the earthquake-destroyed mountain areas are supported by their families in bigger cities.
----
The best way to support Morocco now is not to cancel.
----
Marrakech is fine; there is life, many places are open, and destroyed parts in Medina are recovering quickly (Marrakech is not destroyed, false information). The Sahara desert road is fine, and not affected.
----
However, in the High Atlas mountain region and in other mountain parts, people are still in big need of help. Help them by not cancelling.
----
What about bringing luggage with support items for affected families and leaving with luggage full of local souvenirs?

Update today from village in mountains:
* People sleep outside camping.
* Road is now finally cleared and open.
* Water, the mountain well/source is dirty, but there are some other springs that we bring drinking water from.
