It’s been a little while since the ORC European Championship 2024, and what an incredible event it was!
We are happy to share with you some moments of this great sailing event!

From 29.06 - 5.07. we participate in most important Latvian sailing event . During races we had very challenging weather conditions- too much wind and rain, no wind and lot of wind again.
🏁 PA1 in ORC I group overall ranking the 4 th place.

A week latter PA1 participate in the biggest sailing event in Estonia- Muhu waina regatt. The regatta started with a coastal race in Tallinn, not very successful. It was a warm up day for our team. The following day also had much better wind conditions- we enjoyed nice long offshore race from Tallinn to Kardla , and Kardla to Haapsalu as well as short coastal race in Kardla what brought us up to 6 place overall among very strong teams from Estonia.
Last day was very successful for other Latvian team , who manage to finish race at 3tb position, what let them step up.

Beautiful night for racing on the Long Offshore Race of the ORC Worlds

✅ 12 August 2023 - After two light and wet windward-leeward races held today, the final results after six days of inshore and offshore racing reveal that that last year’s boats and/or teams have defended their titles for the 2023 ORC World Championship.

A second day of fast coastal racing at the 2023 ORC World Championship 🚀

⛵️ 8 August 2023 - Kiel, Germany – In the second day of racing at the 2023 ORC World Championship, the persistent low-pressure center in southern Scandinavia continued to drive strong westerly winds in the Kiel Bucht. Accordingly, race managers from Kieler Yacht-Club set a coastal course for Classes B and C with early leaders emerging in these classes after two races.

An unfortunate secondary effect of these strong westerly winds was to drive water in the Kiel Bucht to the east, thus lowering water levels in the west, and causing the deep draft entries in Class A to remain at their slips in Schilksee Harbor due to a lack of depth to allow them to leave the marina. 🤷‍♂️ Nonetheless, at wind speeds of 20-30 knots second racing day’s conditions were brisk but quite raceable from start in the inner Kiel fiord out to the same mark as the first day at the mouth of the Eckernfiord, and return to the finish in front of Schilksee. Scoring was done for a constructed course of 16.8 miles.

The other outstanding feature of the weather was the intermittent driving rain, lightning and thunderstorm squalls that buffeted the fleet. ⛈️⚡️

🐾 On 9th of August (after three racing days) in the overall position - 13th place out of 29 Teams in the Class B.

A wet and wild start to the 2023 ORC World Championship 🌬️

⛵️ 7 August 2023 - Kiel, Germany – The weather today in the Kiel Bucht region was exactly as forecasted, with strong westerly winds of 20-35 knots on the first Coastal Race of the 2023 ORC World Championship, producing a wild but fast and fun experience for the 113 boats competing in the event.
