3rd place 🥉 Heyball Cup of Riga (featuring the strongest adult players in Latvia).

Alex made it into the semifinals of the event. He has shown a very good level of play, prepared each and every shot, thoroughly thought about the tactics. It was a pleasure to watch the young genius at the table.

Thanks to Latvijas Pūla Federācija for organizing and coach Mitja Gradišnik for his work.

P.S. As usual, I (Alex's dad) took no pictures from the event myself and there was no official photographer. So, just a photo from our home.

National Heyball Junior U17 Champion!

8 juniors got together this week to determine the first ever national junior champion of Latvia. Alex has shown a very strong, balanced and thoughtful game.

In the Round Robin stage Alex has won all the 3 matches, including the match against his friend Mareks Cipsts, a very strong player, the national U17 champion in snooker.

They met again in the finals and also this time Alex was victorious 5:3, holding his nerves and getting back into the match after being 0:3 down.

Early exit for Alex at the US Junior Open.

But that was the best experience of the year even before the trip started. Alex dreamed about playing this tournament for the last few years. This trip was a reward for him for a great year of training.

We've spent a great week in New York and Atlantic City. Saw the world's top pros in action. Made friends with American juniors.

Will be back another time. Stronger.

This year's EPBF European Junior Championships were an amazing event for Alex. He had a great preparation cycle with coach Mitja Gradišnik and teams Slovenia and Lithuania. We could really see him slowing down and playing much more maturely than before.

Alex was the youngest player in the U-17 division but he managed to win 7 matches and get to the playoffs in 3 disciplines out of 4. It was a joy for us as parents to watch him in action.

Thanks to the great country of Slovenia for the fantastic time we had there in July.

Next stop - US Junior Open next week.

So nice when there is a professional photographer Gutkelud_photography at a tournament. These pictures are from BAMS amateur league 8-ball cup. Alex finished 5th out of 44 participants, losing only to the ultimate winner of the tournament.
