A weekend of mixed emotions.
First of all, what a comeback for Rally Kurzeme after 10 years of absence! Legendary stages, lots of participants and spectators and - of course - huge party at the end of the rally.
For our team hopes were high for Karlis Dzenitis and his new co-driver Janis Strazdins, but a faulty crankshaft ring stopped the car 1km into second day of the rally. So 0 points this time. But quick thinking from team and crew was back! Competing in minirally with Ford Fiesta Rally3.
Despite being 1st time in Rally3 car on gravel, with no prior test, Karlis managed two stage winning times overall and only a spin in SS3 cost them overall victory. 3rd place in 4WD Open class it was in the end.
His little sister Kate Dzenite with Pauls Cuntonovs on the notes finished 3rd in Minirallijs in Student class - so a double podium for the team.
Debuting in a rally, a crew of Dāvis Lekstutis and Gvido Ozolins were enjoying a ride in Ford Fiesta Rally3. Couple of Top3 times overall in rallysprint, and P5 at the end of the rally in RSK9 class. Podium eluded this time due to road penalties... Till next time, Davis 😉
Igors Bass and Andris Mālnieks had an engine failure on their Mitsubishi during test, but managed to start the rally thanks to MV Sport Team from Lithuania. First rally finish for Igors it was, and P15 overall. Good job!
See you in Rally Talsi in 4 weeks time!
