Two Neiksans Rallysport built Proto cars lined up at the start of the 2026 Uganda Rally Championship opener — and what a weekend it turned out to be! 🇺🇬🔥

After an incredible 23-year break, Uganda’s rally legend Moses Lumala made a powerful comeback at the wheel of Ford Fiesta NRC EVO2 Prototype. With support from the Neiksans Rallysport team, he delivered an outstanding performance — setting multiple top 3 stage times, winning two stages, and securing an impressive 2nd place overall 🏆

Our second Ford Fiesta NRC, driven by Duncan Mubiru Team Kikankane, also showed strong and consistent pace, fighting within the top 3 across several stages 💪

A fantastic start to the season, and we’re proud to be right in the fight from the very beginning.

Next stop: Round 2 of the Uganda Rally Championship, May 8–10. We continue to provide full technical support to Moses Lumala as we push forward in the battle for the championship title!

Neiksans Rallysport is launching a new project in collaboration with Samsonas Motorsport 🔥

Today, we visited our long-term partners at Samsonas Motorsport to kick off the development of a brand-new Ford Fiesta NRC EVO2 rally prototype.

The car will be fully equipped with Samsonas components, including a sequential gearbox with specially calculated ratios and the latest generation long-travel suspension.

The car will be driven in competition by Samsonas Motorsport boss Martynas Samsonas — a proven fast and experienced driver.

Time is tight, but we’re pushing hard to have the car ready on schedule and performing at the highest level. Stay tuned! 🤟

Toyota GR Yaris NRC – Technical Overview: Engine

At the heart of the Toyota GR Yaris NRC lies a high-performance 2.0-liter turbocharged Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X engine, specifically prepared for rally competition. As an alternative configuration, the car can also be equipped with Toyota’s own 1.6-liter turbocharged GR engine. Both options are extensively upgraded to meet the demanding requirements of national and international rally championships.

The engine is built with forged pistons and H-beam connecting rods, significantly increasing strength and reliability under high boost pressures and extreme load conditions. Racing camshafts optimize valve timing for improved airflow and high-RPM efficiency, ensuring strong power delivery across the rev range.

Forced induction is handled by an Owens Development turbocharger, carefully matched to comply with FIA regulations, including a 34 mm air restrictor. Despite this restriction, the engine produces an impressive 350 horsepower and 680 Nm of torque when running on FIA-approved 102 octane racing fuel. This combination delivers explosive acceleration and exceptional mid-range torque — critical for rally stages that demand rapid response out of tight corners.

The intake system features a lightweight full carbon air intake with a conical racing air filter, maximizing airflow while reducing overall vehicle weight.

Exhaust gases exit through a stainless steel downpipe and performance exhaust system equipped with an FIA-compliant catalytic converter, ensuring both optimal flow and regulatory compliance.

The result is a highly competitive rally engine that balances raw power, precision engineering, and durability. The Toyota GR Yaris NRC power unit is built not only for speed but for consistency — capable of withstanding the punishing conditions of rally competition while delivering reliable, championship-level performance.

Toyota GR Yaris NRC – General Technical Overview 📈

Suspension and Steering.
The suspension system of the Toyota GR Yaris NRC is designed according to Rally2 technical principles, ensuring high mechanical grip, precise handling, and exceptional durability under extreme rally conditions.

The car is equipped with long-travel, 3-way adjustable dampers featuring Öhlins WRC-spec internal components. This setup allows independent adjustment of high-speed compression, low-speed compression, and rebound, enabling precise tuning for different road surfaces, weather conditions, and driving styles.

The suspension features Rally2-type NRC CNC-machined uprights, manufactured from aerospace-grade aluminum. Identical uprights are used at all four corners, simplifying spare parts logistics and improving serviceability during events.

Additionally, the car is fitted with Rally2-type NRC suspension arms, brackets, spigots, and tubular crossmembers, providing high structural rigidity and accurate wheel geometry.

The steering system includes a quick-ratio steering rack with hydraulic power assistance, requiring only 1.25 turns lock-to-lock, delivering extremely fast response and precise control in tight and technical sections.

At the rear, an anti-roll bar with adjustable drop links allows fine tuning of the car’s balance between the front and rear axles depending on surface grip and stage characteristics.

Toyota GR Yaris NRC – General Technical Overview 📈

The Toyota GR Yaris NRC is a professionally prepared national-level rally car built on the Toyota GR Yaris platform and developed in compliance with FIA and national ASN homologation requirements. The car is engineered with a strong focus on maximum performance, durability, and adjustability for competitive rally conditions.

The vehicle is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine, delivering approximately 350 HP and 680 Nm of torque, using a 34 mm air restrictor and FIA 102 racing fuel.

Power is transmitted through X Shift Gearboxes 6-speed sequential gearbox, providing fast and reliable gear changes essential for rally competition.

With a total weight of 1230 kg, the Toyota GR Yaris NRC offers an excellent power-to-weight ratio.

The car is equipped with a Rally2-type suspension system, designed for extreme durability and performance on rough surfaces.

Wheel travel measures 280 mm at the front and 300 mm at the rear, ensuring high levels of traction, stability, and control on gravel, tarmac, and mixed-surface rally stages.
