Match report from Thursday 13th of August between Schetter Stars and Communities CC.

Selecting to bat first, Schetter started cautiously with Jason Wi******er and Ansh Trivedi rotating strike cautiously ( not to teams likings though) against good bowling attach from Arohan Bhandari and Keshav Singh.

Ansh struggling (he excused due to heat) scored 17 of 32 balls was cleaned up by Gagan Ahuja trying to accelerate on pressure shouts from outside. Jason with good support from James Maclear (12 from 11) accelerated and took bowling attack at strike rate of 128.07 scoring 73 of 57 balls, includes 9 fours, while his partners kept on falling scoring in single digits ( second highest score was 41 extras conceded by CCC).
Skipper Pranav Dholakia had clearly conveyed his target to team for 150 minimum as Star Schetter finished their innings at 167 for 6 in 20 overs. Thanks to 10 runs penalty for slow over rate from CCC.

Jason Wi******er: Formed the backbone of the innings, smashing 73 runs off 57 balls (including 9 fours) at a strike rate of 128.07.

Ansh Trivedi: Provided initial support with 17 runs off 32 balls.
Shishir Saraswat: Came in late with a quickfire cameo, hitting 8 runs off just 3 balls (2 fours).

Mohamed Mohideen: Picked up key wickets, finishing with 2/32 in 3 overs.

Keshar Singh: Kept things tight with an impressive economy rate of 5.25, taking 1/21 in 4 overs (15 dot balls).

Wickets were also shared by Arohan Bhandari (1/29), Deepak Gianchandani (1/28), and captain Gagan Ahuja (1/15).

Score on board, Schetter had only one job in hand, bowl with discipline and body behind the ball to stop CCC top batters taking the game away in power play. CCC openers, Arohan Bhandari and Ashray Siddiah batted smartly and put away any loose balls for boundary. On other end Ansh Trivedi kept on putting pressure with his out swinging jaffa’s troubling CCC bats to cope with.
Niraj Trivedi and Vikrant Naik were first change and immediately runs dried up for CCC batters forcing them to take risks and first wicket fell at 51 in 6th over. Except Tarun Raj accelerating from one end, CCC were pegged back and Schetter bowlers did not allow them to score freely creating pressure and in process CCC kept on loosing wickets at regular intervals, falling short of 16 runs despite 10 runs penalty accorded to CCC for Schetters slow over rate. Schetter bowled 27 extras in the process, way above what bowling performance depicts.

Vikrant Naik: The standout bowler for Star Schetter, ripping through the middle order to finish with figures of 3/27 in 4 overs.

Niraj Trivedi: Stifled the opposition batters with an economical spell of 1/17 in 4 overs (Econ: 4.25, 13 dot balls) along with contributing to a run-out.

Ansh Trivedi: Played a vital role, taking 1/27 in his 4 overs.

Schetter has their next game on Friday 4th of September against GD Warriors and will look forward to take their good performances forward to next round of games.

Match Report:

STAR CC Book Their Place in the Division 1 Final

There is a qualifier. There is a place in the final at stake. And then there is STAR CC starting a Division 1 qualifier by reducing OCC 1st XI to 4/3 after just two overs.

STAR CC won the toss and elected to bowl first at the Pierre Werner Cricket Ground, Walferdange, and the opening spell could hardly have gone better.

Jatin Madan struck in the first over, with Advyth Manepalli taking a sharp catch behind the stumps. Kamal Soukhiya then entered the scene and immediately made his presence felt, removing Anoop Orsu before having Malith Jeewantha Gamage caught by Jatin off the very next ball.

Game on.

But OCC were not going to surrender quietly. Asghar Ali Khan came out swinging, taking on the STAR CC bowlers and quickly changing the momentum with an aggressive 32 from just 14 balls. He even received a second chance when a catch went down in Mayank Nagayach's over.

But Kamal was not in the mood for second chances.

The very next over, he cleaned up Asghar to finish an outstanding spell of 3/23 from his four overs. Ishu Sharma picked up two wickets, while Mayank claimed one as OCC continued to fight their way towards a competitive total.

Tony Whiteman then played an important innings in the middle order, scoring 43 from 33 balls, helping OCC recover from their early collapse. Along with Thiyagarajan Sivaraj, who finished unbeaten on 41, he helped OCC reach 182/7 from their 20 overs.

STAR CC needed 183 to reach the final.

The chase began with Shiv Karan Gill and Mayank Nagayach at the crease. Mayank started positively but was unfortunately run out for 13 by a brilliant direct hit from Yama Abdiani. A moment of heartbreak for Mayank, but there was plenty more batting to come.

Advyth Manepalli walked in and, judging by the sound coming off his bat, had clearly brought his best version to the qualifier.

Every shot sounded sweet.

Very sweet.

The pull shots were particularly memorable, with two dispatched in the same over as Advyth began taking control of the chase. But this was no one-man show.

At the other end, Shiv was playing his own brand of attacking cricket. He found the boundaries, rotated the strike and kept the pressure firmly on the OCC bowlers. Together, Shiv and Advyth produced a magnificent 100-run partnership in just 11 overs, combining aggression with control and bringing STAR CC firmly into the driver's seat.

Shiv eventually fell for an excellent 47 from 35 balls, and Kamal departed for a golden duck from the very next delivery, both wickets coming from the experienced Tony Whiteman.

But Advyth was still there.

And so was the captain.

Jatin Madan joined Advyth with the chase within touching distance and played a crucial unbeaten cameo of 35 from just 17 balls, including four fours and a six. Advyth continued his superb innings at the other end, staying calm, keeping the required rate under control and making sure he would be there to see the job through.

The pair added an unbeaten 61-run partnership to take STAR CC to 186/3 in just 19 overs.

Seven wickets.

Six balls remaining.

And a place in the Division 1 Final secured.

Advyth finished unbeaten on a brilliant 72 from 48 balls, while Jatin's 35* ensured the chase finished in style. Kamal's 3/23 was the standout bowling performance, with Ishu also contributing two important wickets.

From 4/3 after two overs with the ball to chasing down 183 with an over to spare, STAR CC delivered a complete team performance when it mattered most.

The destination is now set.

STAR CC will play the Division 1 Final on 6 September at 13:00.

The opponent will be decided after Friday's qualifier between OCC 1st XI and Heritage 1, taking place on 7 August at 17:30.

For now, STAR CC can enjoy the moment.

Star CC won the toss and without any doubt chose to bat first on a bright evening with lightening quick outfield.

Mayank and Shiv started the innings with some fluent boundaries and by the end of powerplay score had rocketed to 72 without any wicket.
Despite some decent spells by Rishikalpa A. and Vijay S, run rate never dropped below 10 an over.
In no time both openers reached their 50s and were motoring along to score a century. In process of scoring some quick runs, Shiv holed out at long-off in 13th over courtesy of a miscued inside out shot caused by a googly bowled by Vikrant Naik.
Jatin came in with fresh legs and ran well to keep Mayank on strike, who was now dealing only in boundaries. Just when Jatin looked all set to hit big shots, he got caught by a brilliant diving catch by Rishikesh S. off Vikrant Naik.
As they say in Cricket, one wicket leads to other, Mayank was bowled off the very next ball of the new over by Sujesh S.
With the last few overs remaining, it was time to put the foot down on the accelerator. Amit L. and Akash S. stitched a quick-fire partnership of 43 off just 22 balls to take the score to 217. Rishikalpa A. was the lone stand-out bowler from Star Challengers side with a spell of 4-0-27-1.

Chasing a daunting 218 against a packed bowling unit was never going to be easy for the Challengers. Jatin with his fiery pace removed both openers in his consecutive overs and immediately put Star 2 under pressure. Kamal, Akash, Rahul, Sambhav and Mayank bowled some miser overs and never let the innings take off. Vijay S provided some resistance by spending time on crease, but the real Star 2 was Vineet who looked in sublime touch and scored a quick 40. Man with Golden Arm, Trivedi Senior, came and chipped in much needed 2 wickets in an over and conceded only a single run. Kamal made sure that the opposition’s tail didn’t wag much and took 3 wickets in the last over. Eventually Star Challengers were bowled out for 112.

All eyes now on the Eliminator and Qualifiers starting from 3rd of August.

A Nail-Biting Contest on a Sunny Day

The LCF Outdoor League 2026 - Division I games on Saturday 07/11/26 commenced with a dramatic encounter, as Star 2 emerged victorious over Lux Knights 1 by a mere one run. The toss favoured Star 2's captain David, who elected to bat first, setting the stage for a tense contest that went down to the wire.

Star 2 Post a Competitive Total Despite Middle-Order Wobble
Star 2's innings saw a solid start, propelled by their top-order batsmen. Rutvij Thumar anchored the innings with a well-compiled 45 runs off 43 deliveries, including 4 boundaries. He was ably supported by Usama Rahim, who provided impetus with a quickfire 36 from 26 balls, featuring an impressive 8 fours. However, the Lux Knights 1 bowlers fought back effectively in the middle overs. Sharath Menon was particularly instrumental, picking up 3 wickets for just 15 runs, with one maiden over to his name. Ashwin Narayanan also contributed with 2 wickets, conceding 21 runs. Despite losing wickets at regular intervals, Star 2 managed to post a competitive total of 136 for the loss of 5 wickets in their allotted 20 overs.

Lux Knights 1 Fall Just Short in a Spirited Chase
Chasing 137 for victory, Lux Knights 1 started aggressively, accumulating 13 runs in the opening over. The partnership between Anirban Das and Ashwin Narayanan provided a strong foundation, with both batsmen scoring 39 and 37 runs respectively. The 50-run partnership between them was a significant moment in the chase. However, Star 2's bowlers found crucial breakthroughs at key junctures. Asif Mirza was economical and effective, claiming 2 wickets for 28 runs. Rutvij Thumar also chipped in with 2 crucial wickets, giving away 13 runs in his 3 overs. The Lux Knights 1 batters struggled to maintain the required run rate in the death overs, thanks to Roshan’s who bowled an amazing spell in 19th over giving away just 2 runs. Lux knights 1 ultimately falling short by a single run, finishing their innings at 135 for 7.

Key Performers Shine on a Suuny Day Thriller
The match was defined by the contributions of several key players. For Star 2, Rutvij Thumar not only played a vital innings with the bat but also made a significant impact with the ball. Usama Rahim's aggressive start provided much-needed momentum. On the Lux Knights 1 side, Anirban Das and Ashwin Narayanan showed commendable grit in their chase, building crucial partnerships. The bowling efforts of Sharath Menon and Ashwin Narayanan for Lux Knights 1, and Asif Mirza, Rishikalpa Acharya, Roshan P Viswanath and Rutvij Thumar, for Star 2, were pivotal in shaping the outcome of this closely contested opener.

Of accidents, dogfight and a “Star” in making.

On-field captain Vikrant Naik strikes with Match Report.

Thursday, 2nd of July, Star Schëtter versus a newly named Royal Warriors but one of the table toppers in D2.

The day doesn’t start well for the stand-in captain, already struggling with availability.

1. Player 1 has family commitment and so cannot make it.

2. Player 2 has an accident at home and is rushed to the hospital.

3. Few minutes before the start - player 3 who actually works in emergency services is caught up in work emergency.

4. As the match is about to start, player 4 gets a terrible news about a family accident and has to rush to the emergency.

5. Player 5, a family friend goes to help out.

Toss is lost and Schëtter enters the field with 8 “men”. In quotes because 1 is a 17 year old junior. Second is a 16 year old junior and the third is a 9 year old boy who has never played cricket who steps in to avoid the team from a possible forfeit.

It’s not easy bowling with 4 fielders. 2-3 runs are always on offer if you just manage to get bat on ball. No fielders to back up throws.

Accident 6 is about to happen. A top edge flies to the 9 year old who for reasons unknown goes for the catch and is stuck on the leg. But he is ok.

The D2 top scorer batter makes merry. Others join in the fun. It’s miserable but Schëtter fight on. A 50 year old veteran. A 45 year old oldie.

In comes the 16 year old to bowl. He is transformed since last 12 months. His proud parents have taken care of him. He is now a bit muscular and not the bony teenager he once was. 3 wickets come in. Two bowled and one stunner of a catch by the 17 year old James. The youngster is not done yet. He takes a running catch as well.

But things still look ominous. 11 overs in and Royal Warriors are 125/4. Thankfully Jason and Ishu arrive after taking care of emergencies. Two additional fielders and a bowler. But still it’s only 7 fielders. The dogfight continue. Shubham and Madhu continue to score runs. Fielders run around. From long on to long on. The sun is scorching and the outfield is quick. Krupesh bowls his loops, Ishu his pace. Vikrant mixes us his balls. Niraj and James bowl their balls full and straight.

5 penalty runs for slow over rate. Royal warriors finish on 216.
The match is as good as over. Or is it?

In come Jason and Rishikesh, the aforementioned 16 year old. They run like rabbits and sting like wasps. They run singles when the ball is hit straight to the fielders. They take two when the fielders do not pick the ball cleanly. And then they hit boundaries. Jason goes and Vineet comes in. Rishikesh takes over. Vineet makes sure that singles and doubles are scored. There is no tiredness. An amazing partnership ensues. Boundaries flow. There is a talk of Vineet not hitting sixes and he does just that. Two biggies. Fielders drop catches. Their shoulders slump. But now it’s cloudy and a hint of rain. The outfield is damp and slow. Just nothing goes Schëtter’s way. But Rishikesh and Vineet score. Quick fifties. The right left combination doesn’t help. Wides and no balls follow. Rishikesh falls for 65. Vineet continues. He too falls for 67. Nobody has checked the score. Oh we just lost by 23 runs. 193/3 after 20. Manjunath did us in. Took all the three wickets. All bowled.

It’s not often you see the losing team happier. The losing captain prouder. The winning team sit in a huddle and wonder what they can do better.

The losing team is celebrating and laughing. Suddenly the rainbow pops up. Perfect background for a team picture.
