ESCAPE REVISION: Duct Tape Release
Part 1 of 3, Anti-Kidnapping Series
How you position your hands when the tape goes on determines how much slack space you’ll have to work with later. Make a fist or push your elbows out as it’s applied. That small choice makes the difference.
Before you break the tape, weaken it first. Use your teeth to start a tear. Duct tape is a type of plastic, so friction against a wall works the same way and loosens it further.
Once it’s loosened, break it explosively using your body, not just your arms. Drive down against your stomach to snap it free.
This is part one of a three part series. Part two covers hands taped behind the back. Part three covers the legs.
