On July 11, the 2026 China-Luxembourg Friendly Badminton Exchange Event took place in Zhengzhou.A delegation of 10 members from the Luxembourg Rong Lun Sheng Badminton Club visited Henan Province to engage in a five-day comprehensive and in-depth sports and cultural exchange program with the Henan Provincial Badminton Team. Using badminton as a bridge, they continued the story of new chapters in the friendly cooperation between Henan and Luxembourg.This friendly badminton exchange event between Henan and Luxembourg.The theme is “Feathers Moving Along the Silk Road: Henan and Lu Join Hands.”The aim is to thoroughly implement the requirements for the high-quality development of the Belt and Road Initiative, carry out the arrangements for people-to-people and cultural exchanges under the Zhengzhou-Luxembourg “Air Silk Road”, and further deepen sports and cultural exchanges between Henan and Luxembourg.The team representing the Royal Luxembourg Badminton Club is one of Luxembourg’s largest and most highly competitive veteran badminton champion clubs. Their presence adds a layer of high-level competition and in-depth mutual learning to this friendly badminton exchange between Henan and Luxembourg.The opening ceremony also featured warm moments such as friendly gift-giving and group photos, allowing emotions to be conveyed through gestures and bonds to be strengthened. These moments captured the precious moments of friendship between Henan and Lu, and set the tone for a warm and profound cooperative atmosphere for the exchange event. Following the conclusion of the opening ceremony, both sides officially entered the phase of intensive training and exchange.It is understood that this exchange event will continue until the 15th, featuring a rich array of content, diverse formats, and targeted activities. During the event, the Henan and Lujiang teams will systematically conduct special training sessions, live drills, group competitions, friendly matches, and technical seminars. These activities will focus on comprehensive exchanges and learning related to key aspects such as badminton techniques, tactical coordination, physical training, and tournament experience.At the same time, the event incorporated elements of Central Plains cultural experiences, allowing Luxembourg athletes to immerse themselves in the charm of Central Plains culture while honing their ball skills, thus achieving a two-way empowerment of “sports exchange + cultural exchange.”
Han Hua, the head of Henan’s badminton team, stated that Henan, as one of the key regions of origin for Chinese civilization, boasts a rich cultural heritage and a strong sports atmosphere, making badminton a sport with a solid grassroots base and a fertile ground for professional development.Sports knows no borders, and cultural and tourism exchanges connect people’s hearts. This exchange event is not merely a grand sporting event for skill demonstration and professional mutual learning, but also a profound dialogue promoting friendship between the people of China and Europe.It is hoped that the athletes from both places will use the sport as a means to forge friendships and engage in sincere exchanges. Through training and competition, they will refine their skills, and through daily interaction, they will deepen their bonds.
