Szeszupa (Russian:Шешупе;German:Scheschup(p)e);Lithuanian:Šešupė) length: 298km,including 27km in Poland,158km in Lithuania,51km on the Lithuanian-Russian border,62km in Russia.Szeszupa is a left tributary of the Niemen River and connects three countries together: Poland,Lithuania and Russia.The main town situated by Szeszupa is Marijampole in Lithuania.Szeszupa's springs are located in the Suwalki Landscape Park,between the villages Turtul and Szeszupka,and near other major river of Suwalki region-Czarna Hanca.Szeszupa's cavity is the most beautiful example of a landscape with a team of dead ice forms in the Suwalki region.Szeszupa River,as a canoe trail is completely undiscovered.Not many people know that it is suitable for canoeing and can provide us with many experiences.The water route is extremly interessting and varied.
One day trip:
From the mill in Udziejek to the camping in Lizdejki,a bridge near lonely farm buildings.(by prior arrangement,you can see sauna.)
From the Lake Krejwelek(near the lake are few agroturist farms,by prior arrangement,you can use sauna) to the camping in Pobondzie or in the Rutka-Tartak.
From the mill in Udziejek to the camping in Pobondzie.Or you can also continue to paddle and after passing 2.1. km stop in Rutka-Tartak.
At a distance of about 2km from the campsite in Pobondzie,in the centre of Rutka-Tartak there are well-stocked shops,a petrol station,a church,a pharmacy and a restaurant „Kalinka“,where you can have a good lunsch or a late dinner.
Two day trip:
From the mill in Udziejek to the mill in Rutka-Tartak,or to the road bridge in Poszeszupie.
From the mill in Udziejek to the bridge road on the road Liubavas-Salaperaugis.( the Republic of Lithuania).Your rafting finish by the road bridge.The canoes can be left before the bridge ,on a meadow on the left.
