LeFA REINFORCE NATIONAL TEAMS COACHING DEPARTMENT

The leadership of the Lesotho Football Association has reinforced the technical team of the national teams by adding Matlama Head Coach Thabile Secker, Majantja Head Coach Bafokeng Mohapi, and Goalkeeper Coach Liteboho Mokhesi.

Mr. Secker and Mr. Mokhesi have started with immediate effect, joining the Likuena technical team as Assistant Coach and Goalkeeper Coach respectively.

Mr. Mohapi will join LeFA after the CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations Qualifiers, which will be played in Mozambique this month, where he will take over as Makoanyane XI Head Coach. The current Head Coach, Mr. Makepe Motolo, will focus on his role as Likuena Assistant Coach.

LeFA REINFORCE NATIONAL TEAMS COACHING DEPARTMENT

LeFA AND DIFA MOKHOTLONG TO HOST GALA DINNER TO RAISE FUNDS FOR COMMUNITY GROUND

The Lesotho Football Association, in partnership with DIFA Mokhotlong, will host a Gala Dinner on Saturday, 03 October 2026.

The aim of the dinner is to raise funds for the purchase and laying of lawn at one community ground in Mokhotlong.

This initiative marks the first of many that the Lesotho Football Association will undertake across the country.

The goal is to ensure that Lesotho has quality football facilities that will help improve the standard of football and support the development of quality players.

LeFA calls on all corporate partners to support this initiative by purchasing a table for ten people at M10,000.

Speaking on the initiative, Mr. Teele Nts’onyana, Project Coordinator in the LeFA President’s Office, said he is humbled by the excitement the project has already generated among football stakeholders in Mokhotlong.

He further called on all businesses, especially those operating in Mokhotlong, to come on board and contribute to the development of football.

“We appreciate the willingness and support that we have already received from all stakeholders of the game in Mokhotlong,” said the Likuena legend.

“The plan is to roll out this kind of initiative in all districts because we are all aware of the challenges facing our football, especially the lack of facilities to develop quality footballers.”

Makoanyane XI to begin CAF U-20 AFCON Qualifiers against South Africa's Amajita

Lesotho's U-20 national team, Makoanyane XI, will open their CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations - COSAFA Qualifiers campaign against South Africa's Amajita.

According to the fixtures released by CAF for the qualifiers to be held in Mozambique, Makoanyane XI have been drawn in Group B alongside South Africa, Angola and Eswatini.

Makoanyane XI will kick off their campaign on Friday, 19 September 2026 against Amajita at 12:00 at Zimpeto Stadium.

They will then face Eswatini on Monday, 21 September 2026 at 18:00 at ABB 1 Stadium, before wrapping up the group stage against Angola on Wednesday, 23 September 2026 at 12:00 at ABB 2 Stadium.

The top team from each group and the best second-placed team will advance to the semi-finals on 25 September 2026. The final and 3rd/4th place playoff are scheduled for 27 September 2026.

The COSAFA Qualifiers will serve as the Southern African zone qualifiers for the 2027 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations.

Football fraternity to remember late LCS star Tsotang "Malesela

The football fraternity in the Kingdom will assemble at CTC Hall on Tuesday, 08 September 2026 at 10:00 for the memorial service of the late footballer Tsotang "Malesela".

The Roma-born winger came through the ranks at Manonyane and also donned the blue and white of Matlama before signing with Lesotho Correctional Services FC ahead of the start of the 2026/2027 season.

Malesela tragically lost his life in a car accident recently. He will be remembered for his silky skills on the field of play and for his dedication to the game.

During the start of the senior national team preparations for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations, Malesela was also named in the Likuena provisional squad, though he did not make the final cut.

Malesela will be laid to rest this coming weekend in Roma.

Rest in Peace, Maseven.
