LeFA Rolls Out 2026 Boys U16 Inter-District Tournament

The Lesotho Football Association will on Wednesday, 24 June roll out the 2026 edition of the Boys U16 Inter-District Tournament at its headquarters, Bambatha Ts’ita Sports Arena in Maseru.

The youth tournament aims to give boys and girls under 16 a platform to play and develop. It will be staged in three phases across the 10 districts.

The girls’ edition was played during Easter, with Maseru and Butha-Buthe emerging as winners.

Phase 1 will be held in Maseru on 24 June and will feature Maseru, Thaba-Tseka and Mafeteng Urban district teams.

Phase 2 moves north on 30 June, bringing together Butha-Buthe, Leribe, Berea and Mokhotlong.

The final phase will be held in the south on 6 July, where Mafeteng 2, Mohale’s Hoek, Qacha’s Nek and Quthing districts will compete in a round-robin format.

The Inter-District Tournament, which includes both girls’ and boys’ competitions, is an annual LeFA event also used to scout young talent across Lesotho.

Lesotho U20 Girls Goalkeeper Pheliso Nthunya Picks Her Best World Cup Goalkeepers

Lesotho U20 goalkeeper Pheliso Nthunya shared her two standout keepers at the 2026 World Cup in North America so far:

Mike Maignan: Praised for his calm under pressure. Pheliso was impressed with how he handled Senegal in France’s opening game and will be watching his progress closely.

Rowen Williams: Picked for bravery and shotstopping. Pheliso said he understands his role very well. “Yes he made mistakes against Mexico, but he’s a very confident player.”

Nthunya was one of Lishoeshoe’s standout players when the girls U17 team reached the final of the COSAFA Girls U17 Championship two years ago.
