Paynesville Football Club strongly condemns the violent attack perpetrated by those believed to be members of the Student Unification Party (SUP) of the University of Liberia on the premises of the Liberia Football Association (LFA). Reports indicate that the protesters forcibly entered the LFA compound, engaged in acts of violence, and assaulted staff members.
As a proud member of the LFA, we stand in solidarity with the leadership, staff, and all stakeholders of Liberian football. We believe that Football is a unifying force in our country, and any act of violence directed at our governing institutions undermines the integrity and development of the sport.
While we recognize and respect the right to peaceful protest and freedom of expression, we denounce any form of aggression, intimidation, or destruction. Disputes and concerns should be addressed through legal and peaceful means rather than violent confrontations.
We call on all stakeholders, including the government and security agencies, to investigate this matter thoroughly and ensure that those responsible are held accountable under the law. We further urge all football-loving Liberians to promote peace, dialogue, and sportsmanship in resolving conflicts.
Paynesville Football Club remains committed to the growth of football in Liberia and will continue to work with the LFA and all relevant institutions to foster a safe and conducive environment for the development of the sport. We call on all Liberians to turn out tomorrow to support our national team the Lonestar to Victory.
