‎Buchanan, Grand Bassa County - A wave of outrage has swept across Grand Bassa County following the reported sidelining of Karlos Rogers, one of the county’s most celebrated and professional basketball talents, from the Grand Bassa Basketball Team ahead of the 2025/2026 National County Sports Meet.

‎Chants of “We want Karlos” have echoed across local basketball circles as citizens question how a county-born player, widely regarded as Grand Bassa’s most consistent scorer in recent years, could be left out of the squad.
‎
‎Rogers, a graduate of St. Peter Claver Catholic High School, dominated county basketball between 2022 and 2024 as the leading scorer. He later traveled to India, where he played basketball, before returning to Liberia to compete in the Liberia Basketball Association Second Division League. Rogers recently finished one of the top scorer for Vision Shooters before moving on to Monrovia Admiris where he's currently the highest pointer.

‎Despite his credentials and deep roots in Grand Bassa, Rogers was sidelined in favor of Charles Cooper of Margibi County, who was reportedly brought in by the trainer of Margibi, a move that has fueled public anger and accusations of bias within the selection process.
‎
‎Many Bassonians insist that Grand Bassa must be represented by its own sons, especially those who have lived, developed, and carried the county’s basketball identity for years. Sports supporters say the decision undermines the spirit of fairness and grassroots development.

‎As preparations continue, pressure is mounting on the Bassa Basketball Department to reconsider its decision and restore confidence by giving Karlos Rogers a fair chance to wear the county colors.

The lad who’s favorite to clinch another MVP title for the second time with the Bushrod Dreams after helping them bagged championship, traveled days ago to participate in the Most Prestigious event in Ghana 🇬🇭 every year December at the University of Legon…

Their first game played against China 🇨🇳 ends 49:93 in favor of Liberia..

At the just ended final of the LBA D2 game against Bushrod Dreams, Knight Reaper coach Pastor Prince-Charles Arko who’s flew to Ghana 🇬🇭 for vacation the next day after the final game gifted Ayouba Kyrie Swaray, the D2 league current MVP a Blue Cartier Santos Diamond watch worth thousands of dollars showing his appreciation for the young player hard work and dedication towards the game and always staying calm ☺️ when there’s a unforeseen situation in the game .. With such kind gesture Coach Charles whose went in final back to back with the Dreams but unfortunately missed both championship has been a real life changing coach for many youth in Liberia since his arrival in the Country (league)...

The Cartier Santos Blue Diamond watch is estimated to be worth thousands of dollars that can buy land and build a modern house in our country mama Liberia…🤣🤣 🤣

Ayouba Swaray in return appreciated the coach for such expensive gift and thanks him for shaping young players life to basketball instead of drugs in our country Liberia , he further added that this gift means a lot to him as a player and it’s his first time in his career to receive such gift..

Hence forth, he handed over the gift (watch) to the captain of the Vision Shooters Family Abel G Glay Jr. , saying without this team I wasn’t gonna be this far.. I am honored to always be a Shooters.. Thanks for always supporting me family, I am dedicating this Championship to the team, our supporters and to all the Vision family here and abroad, the MVP stated..

Here’s the fun, the watch is for the team and it’s in the hand of the captain .. We should sell it or keep it in our museum?🤣
