වසර 13ක් ශ්රී ලංකා ජාතික වාර්තාව සහ වසර 14ක් ශ්රී ලංකා පාසල් වාර්තාව තබා තිබූ තුන් පිම්ම ශූරයාගේ 75 වන (දියමන්ති ජුබිලි) උපන්දිනය අදට යෙදී ඇත.
හිටපු ශ්රී ලංකා තුන් පිම්ම ශූර රංජිත් පෙරේරා මහතා අද සිය 75 වන දියමන්ති ජුබිලි උපන්දිනය සමරයි. 1974 දී ඔහු තැබූ තුන්පිම්ම ශ්රී ලංකා ජාතික වාර්තාව (මීටර් 15.31) අඛණ්ඩව වසර 13ක් නොබිඳී පැවති අතර, 1969 දී මීගමුව මාරිස්ටෙලා විදුහල නියෝජනය කරමින් ඔහු පිහිටුවන ලද ශ්රී ලංකා පාසල් වාර්තාව (මීටර් 14.21) වසර 14ක් නොබිඳී පැවතුනි.
ප්රවීන මලලක්රීඩා පුහුණුකරු ලක්ෂ්මන් ද අල්විස් මහතාගෙන් පුහුණුව ලැබ 1974 ටෙහෙරානයේ පැවති ආසියානු ක්රීඩා උළෙලට සහභාගිවීමේ අවස්ථාව ලබාගත් ඔහු එහි 8 වන ස්ථානය ලබාගන්නා ලදී.
දැනට ඇමෙරිකා එක්සත් ජනපදයේ වාසය කරන රංජිත් පෙරේරා මහතාට සුභ උපන් දිනයකට සුබපතමින් දීර්ඝායුෂ ප්රාර්ථනා කරමු.

Today marks the 75th (Diamond Jubilee) birthday of the former triple jump champion who held the Sri Lanka national record for 13 years and the Sri Lanka schools record for 14 years.
Former Sri Lankan triple jump champion Mr. Ranjith Perera celebrates his 75th Diamond Jubilee birthday today. The Sri Lanka national record he set in 1974 (15.31 meters) stood unbroken for 13 consecutive years. Additionally, the Sri Lanka schools record he established in 1969, while representing Maris Stella College, Negombo, remained unbroken for 14 years.
Having trained under veteran athletics coach Mr. Lakshman de Alwis, he secured 8th place in the event at the 1974 Asian Games held in Tehran.
We wish Mr. Ranjith Perera, who currently resides in the United States, a happy birthday and a long life.
