The OTRFU had the privilege of handing over our contributions to the Warden in support of two significant rugby initiatives that will take place over the coming weeks and months.
1. Junior Rugby Carnival 2026
The Old Thomians’ Rugby Football Union (OTRFU), together with the QI 69ers, has donated LKR 800,000 towards the Junior Rugby Carnival 2026, scheduled for 25th July 2026.
Over the years, this carnival has proven to be one of the most impactful rugby development programs within the College. It serves as a vital platform for identifying young talent at the junior level, inspiring boys to embrace the game, and nurturing the next generation of Thomian rugby players.
2. 175th Anniversary Rugby 7s Tournament
In celebration of 175 years of S. Thomas’ College, OTRFU and the QI 69ers have once again joined hands to contribute LKR 1,000,000 towards the 175 Thomian Legacy Rugby 7s Tournament.
This landmark tournament, scheduled for 12th September 2026 at the College Big Club Grounds, will feature 12 of the country’s leading Under-18 rugby schools, competing for Cup, Plate and Bowl honours in what promises to be a memorable day of school rugby.
As the College celebrates this historic milestone, we are honoured to play our part in ensuring that this tournament becomes a fitting tribute to the rich rugby heritage of S. Thomas’ College.
OTRFU is immensely proud to have supported these initiatives consistently over the years. None of this would have been possible without the unwavering generosity and commitment of our Thomian rugby fraternity, Old Boys, well-wishers, and every individual who has contributed towards preserving and strengthening the proud traditions of Thomian Rugby.
