FIFA Appoints Sri Lankan Football Chief Jaswar Umar to Grassroots and Amateur Football Committee 🇱🇰

World governing body FIFA has appointed Football Federation of Sri Lanka (FFSL) President Jaswar Umar to its Committee for Grassroots and Amateur Football.

This prestigious appointment comes at a time when Sri Lankan Football is experiencing rapid growth under the visionary leadership of President Jaswar Umar over the past 18 months. His strategic and bold approach has transformed the landscape of Sri Lankan football, setting new benchmarks in professionalism, governance, and performance.

President Umar’s relentless focus on professionalizing the national team and elite football structure has positioned Sri Lanka as a rising force in the South Asian region. His modern management style and forward-thinking policies have brought renewed energy and credibility to the game, earning international recognition.

Sri Lanka’s national team has shown significant improvement and remains the only South Asian nation still in contention for Asian Cup qualification, a testament to the progress achieved through structured reforms and professional planning.

With his new role in FIFA, Jaswar Umar will now contribute his experience and expertise to uplift grassroots and amateur football on a global scale. His appointment reflects both his growing influence in world football and FIFA’s confidence in his ability to inspire meaningful development within the sport worldwide.

සුපර් ලීග්, චැම්පියන් ලීග් කල් යන ලකුණු!
2021 අවසන් වරට ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ ලීග් තරඟාවලියක් පැවැත්වුණු පසු, අදට වසර 4ක් ගතවී ඇතත් තවමත් කිසිදු නිල තොරතුරක් එම තරඟාවලිය සම්බන්ධයෙන් නිකුත් වී නැති බව කණගාටුදායක තත්වයක්.

ක්‍රීඩකයින්, ක්‍රීඩා සමාජ සහ ඒ වටා සම්බන්ධ වෙන අය දැන් මේ ගැන කර කියාගන්න දෙයක් නැතිව අසරණ තත්වයක පසුවෙලා. මේක ලංකාවේ පාපන්දු ක්ෂේත්‍රය තවත් පසුබසීම්වලට තුඩුදෙන ආකාරයක් පෙන්වයි.

අද වන විට ක්‍රීඩකයින් සහ නිලධාරින් 600කට වඩා වැඩි සංඛ්‍යාවක් තම ජීවිතය පවත්වාගෙන යාමට යම් උපාය මාර්ගයක් රහිතව සිටී. ලීග් තරඟාවලිය ආරම්භ කිරීමේදී පවසන ලද්දේ එය ක්‍රීඩකයින්ට මාසික වැටුපක් ලබාදීමට උපකාරී වනු ඇති බවයි. නමුත් ඇතැම් සමාජ වලින් ක්‍රීඩකයින්ගේ වැටුප්ද ලබා නොදී, එම මුදල් කූට ලෙස භාවිතා වී ඇති බවට ආරංචි ද පැවතියි.

ජාතික කණ්ඩායම දිනෙන් දින දියුණු වෙමින් පවතී. ඒ සමඟම දේශීය පාපන්දු ක්ෂේත්‍රයද එකසේ දියුණු විය යුතුය. ඒක තමයි අප රටක් වශයෙන් අරමුණක් විදියට තීරණය කරගන්න ඕනේ. පිරිමි ජාතික කණ්ඩායමේ තොරතුරු මාධ්‍යට නිකුත් වන අතර කාන්තා කණ්ඩායම පිළිබඳව පවා සීරුවෙන් මාධ්‍ය අවධානයක් නොමැතිවීමද තවත් කණගාටුදායක තත්වයකි.

කෙසේවෙතත්, ක්‍රීඩා සමාජ හිමිකරුවන් බහුතරය පාපන්දු සම්මේලනයේ ක්‍රියාමාර්ගවලට ඒ තරම් සතුටක් නොදක්වයි. එමෙන්ම, "සම්මේලනයෙන් මුදල් ලැබුනොත් සෙල්ලම් කරනවා" කියන අදහසක් ද ව්‍යාප්තව පවතින බව ද දැක්විය හැක. තමන්ගේ සමාජය තුළින් මුදල් උපයාගැනීමට නොහැකි, ජර්සියකින් හෝ අනුග්‍රාහකයෙකු එක්කර ගැනීමට නොහැකි ක්‍රීඩා සමාජවල වෘත්තීමය භාවය පිළිබඳව සොයා බැලිය යුතුය.

අවසානයේ, පාපන්දු මත තම ජීවිතය ගොඩනඟාගන්නා ක්‍රීඩකයින්, පුහුණුකරුවන්, විනිසුරුවන් සහ වෙනත් නිලධාරීන් අසරණවීම – ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ අනාගත පාපන්දු සංවර්ධනයට දැඩි භීෂණයක් වනු ඇත.
