Hesali is no stranger to this stage, as she prepares to make her third appearance in this highly competitive championship. With riders from approximately 10 countries battling for glory, the event promises intense racing and plenty of excitement.

The competitors will take on the challenge aboard equally powered GPX200 motorcycles, putting the focus firmly on rider skill, racecraft and determination. The championship will feature one round consisting of two races, giving Hesali two opportunities to make her mark on the international stage.

As she gets ready to take on some of Asiaโ€™s best female racers, we wish Hesali Peiris the very best of luck!

The FIA Formula 3 In-Season Testing at Madrid, Spain, held on the 24th and 25th of August, provided Yevan David ๐Ÿ‡ฑ๐Ÿ‡ฐ and the AIX Racing team with another valuable opportunity to prepare for the closing stages of the 2026 championship.

On Day 1, Yevan recorded a best time of 1:51.530, placing him 19th overall among the 30 drivers. The fastest time came from Freddie Slater with a 1:50.343, leaving Yevan 1.187 seconds off the benchmark.

Day 2 saw a significant improvement from Yevan, who lowered his best time to 1:49.559. With Ugo Ugochukwu setting the fastest time at 1:49.034, Yevan was just 0.525 seconds off the top time. His 1.971-second improvement from Day 1 moved him from 19th to an impressive 7th position overall.

With the two-day test now complete, Yevan and the AIX Racing team can take plenty of positives from the progress shown in Madrid. Attention now turns to Round 8 of the FIA Formula 3 Championship, the penultimate round of the season, which will take place at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza, Italy ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น, from 4th to 6th September 2026. We now look forward to seeing Yevan carry the momentum from this strong testing performance into Monza as he continues his fight for more championship points.

Kaveen Rajapaksa ๐Ÿ‡ฑ๐Ÿ‡ฐ delivered a sensational performance at Round 1 of the MRF Indian National Racing Challenge 4W - 2026 at the Madras International Circuit ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ, producing a perfect opening weekend in the FLGB 1300cc - Junior Class.

Representing Momentum Motorsports in car #10, Kaveen turned a P13 qualifying position into an extraordinary three-race winning streak. He secured victory in Race 1, followed it up with another win in Race 2, and completed a dominant hat-trick by taking the chequered flag first in Race 3.

Three races, three victories, an outstanding display of pace, consistency and racecraft from the young Sri Lankan. Kaveen's flawless performance marks a remarkable start to his 2026 championship campaign and puts Sri Lanka firmly in the spotlight on the Indian racing scene.

His fellow Sri Lankan competitors, Aadam Junaid ( #16) and Saurika Livindu ( #26), also represented Momentum Motorsports in the same class. Aadam secured a podium finish with P3 in Race 2, while Saurika fought through Race 3 to finish P9.

An unforgettable opening round for Kaveen Rajapaksha and a proud moment for Sri Lankan motorsport.

Round 1 of the MRF Indian National Racing Challenge 4W โ€“ 2026 concluded at the Madras International Circuit from 21st to 23rd August, with three Sri Lankan drivers taking on the FLGB 1300cc Junior Class.

Kaveen Rajapaksha ๐Ÿ‡ฑ๐Ÿ‡ฐ Aadam Junaid ๐Ÿ‡ฑ๐Ÿ‡ฐ Saurika Livindu ๐Ÿ‡ฑ๐Ÿ‡ฐ represented Momentum Motorsports, proudly carrying the Sri Lankan flag onto the grid. Kaveen competed in car #10, Aadam in #16 and Saurika in #26. While this was not the first time Kaveen and Aadam stepped onto the racing field to battle, the opening round provided another opportunity for all three drivers to showcase their talent on an international stage.

In qualifying, Kaveen led the Sri Lankan trio with P13, followed by Saurika in P14 and Aadam in P15, setting the stage for three highly competitive races.

Race 1 saw Kaveen produce an exceptional drive as he fought his way through the field to secure victory and put Sri Lanka on top of the podium. Unfortunately, both Aadam and Saurika were forced to retire from the race, resulting in DNFs.

Kaveen continued his winning form in Race 2, once again taking the chequered flag in P1 and making it two wins from two races. Aadam bounced back strongly to secure P3 and claim a podium finish, while Saurika unfortunately suffered another retirement.

Race 3 saw Kaveen dominate the field once again, completing a remarkable hat-trick of victories in the opening round of the championship. Three races, three wins, an outstanding performance and a proud moment for Sri Lanka. Saurika fought his way to the finish and crossed the chequered flag in P9, while Aadam was unfortunately forced to retire from the race, leaving the opening round with a podium trophy from Race 2.

Kaveen Rajapaksha's perfect three-win opening round has given Sri Lanka a fantastic start to the 2026 championship campaign. Congratulations to Kaveen, Aadam, Saurika and the entire Momentum Motorsports team for representing Sri Lanka on the international racing stage.

Wishing the entire Sri Lankan contingent the very best for the next round of the championship.

Gihan Sanjeewa secured his third consecutive victory in the Group M โ€“ Std Mod Motorcycles Over 100cc up to 150cc 2T class at Mahagasthota on 16th August 2026.

Competing on his Yamaha TZR race machine, Gihan has maintained his dominance in the class over the past three years, clocking 39.698 seconds in 2024, 39.826 seconds in 2025, and 40.706 seconds in 2026.

The class record still belongs to Ganeshan Vijayakumar, who set the benchmark at an impressive 37.622 seconds back in 2017.

2017 - Ganeshan Vijayakumar: 37.622s | Class Record.
2024 - Gihan Sanjeewa: 39.698s | +2.076s

Palaniyandi Raguraja took on a completely new challenge at Mahagasthota 2026, making the transition from motorcycle racing to motorcars by competing in the Group Formula McLarens 1300cc โ€“ EFI class. With weather conditions limiting the field to just one run, Raguraja delivered an impressive debut, clocking 46.025 seconds on his first-ever car racing attempt at Nuwara Eliya.

Raguraja is no stranger to the hills, having been crowned the 2025 Hill Climb National Champion in Supermoto Open aboard a Yamaha YZ450F. This time, however, he made history as the first-ever driver from Nuwara Eliya to compete in a car at the event.

From dominating the hills on two wheels to taking on four wheels, Raguraja has opened an exciting new chapter in his racing career. We hope to see him continue in the class and eventually dominate the hills once again, just as he did on the motorcycle in 2025.

Viren Botejue secured his third consecutive victory in the Group SL-GT โ€“ Cars up to 3500cc class at Mahagasthota on 17th August 2026.

His winning streak began in 2024, when Viren clocked an impressive 32.452 seconds, followed by a 33.326-second run in 2025. This year, despite the damp conditions, he completed the hat-trick with a 35.026-second run.

The current class record still belongs to Ashan Silva, who set the benchmark at 31.699 seconds in 2021. Viren came closest to the record in 2024, finishing just 0.753 seconds behind Ashan Silva's record.

2021 - Ashan Silva: 31.699s (Class Record)
2024 - Viren Botejue: 32.452s | +0.753s
2025 - Viren Botejue: 33.326s | +1.627s
2026 - Viren Botejue: 35.026s | +3.327s ๐ŸŒง๏ธ

Three consecutive victories, but the record remains within reach. With the pace Viren has shown over the years, we hope to see the SL-GT class record challenged and renewed soon.
