EVERY SHOT STARTS WITH THE SPLIT 🏸
Strengthen and sharpen your split step with power
The split step is your starting engine — faster reaction, better balance, stronger first move.
Why it matters
• Quicker reaction to every shot
• Better balance before movement
• More explosive first step
Technique Tips (must follow)
• Time your split just before opponent hits the shuttle
• Land on the balls of your feet (not flat)
• Keep knees slightly bent and ready to push
• Stay light and relaxed, don’t jump too high
• Push off instantly in the direction of the shuttle
Power Focus
• Small, sharp split → faster reaction
• Use arms slightly for balance
• Train with rhythm: split → push → move
Common mistakes
• Splitting too early or too late
• Landing heavy (slow reaction)
• Standing straight (no power to push)
