After narrowly missing a victory at Stage 13, Belgium's Frans Bonduel was trying hard to close at least some of the gap separating him from the iron grip of race leader Andre Leducq. Stage 14 was one of the last remaining days in the mountains and represented one of the few chances left for Bonduel to get back to the top 3 spot he had enjoyed earlier in the race. Unfortunately, pushing his bike on a decent at Stage 14 did not work out so well for him. In this photo, we see Bonduel battered and his elbow bloodied from a crash as he begins a roadside repair. This setback did not end his Tour. By the end of the race, he had finished a very respectable 6th place overall.
