Murder of a shining star

Richard de Soyza was abducted from his home in Welikadawatte,on the 17th of February 1990 in the presence of his mother late Dr Manorani Sarawanamuttu and found dead/murdered the following day, the 18th February 1990. He was a prominent Journalist, Impressive actor, Effective activist, convincing writer and a dearly and beloved character to his friends and to the society he associated with.
He was found dead with two gunshot injuries to his head, broken Jaws and swollen testicles, that proves the extent of torcher by the abductors who were subsequently identified as Police offices SP Ronnie Gunasinghe, ASP Ranchagoda, OIC Devasurendra and sgt. Sarathchandra. However, they were acquitted from all accusations due to evidence being contradictory and not credible.
His mother passed away in 2005, with unprecedented grievance in her heart and disappointment with a society known to be righteous and great.
All above four suspects were a death squad operated by and closely associated with the then Deputy Minister of Defense Ranjan Wijeratne and the President Ranasinghe Premadasa who later faced a similar fate, proving the fact that ‘what goes around, comes around”
It was clearly proven at the commission appointed to investigate the murder of Richard de Soyza, that the architects of the murder of Richard were none other than the above two politicians and it was politically motivated in order to overcome the fear of defeat, losing their malodorous and putrid character, cover up the sinful acts and possibly avoid the blame of many wrong doing (by them) and executed by the above four dirty and murderous cops. Among many other reasons for the kill, it was highlighted that the torcher and assassination was due to a stage drama named “Me Kawda, Monawada Karanne” produced by the Dehiwela Mt Lavinia Municipal Council member Lakshman Perera who went missing one week prior to Richard’s murder and the script written by Richard. Richard was the Head of Colombo office for ‘Inter Press” a worldwide news agency based in Brasil.
The government of Sri Lanka and the governing party, the UNP were trying to convene the general public that the killing of Richard was carried out by the DJVP due to the later being criticized by Richard but by then the public was convinced of wrong doers as the leadership of the country. It was revealed at the commission that they had ample of evidence to prove it was the leadership but not DJVP.
Richard De Soysa’s inherited quality of acting, writing, presenting were denied by assassinating him at a premature age while his mother’s joy of her son’s achievements were denied at a most interesting period of time of a mother of a son , a shining star. She was sent through an unbearable pain of mind and heart when Richard was dragged out of his home at three o’clock in the morning in front of her eyes.
Another life of a youth was terminated by greedy politicians who really are trying to secure power, grabbed by misguiding the general public, who are also fooled by their false promises. They little know that the public know them as wild vultures and not saviors of a nation.
While a life of an innocent youth was unlawfully ended and a life of a hopeful mother was disturbed on one side, on the other side a youth is being trained, mentored, guided and given full of hopes of being a future leader of the country. One’s life is forced to scarify when other’s life is given hopes of crowning as a king of a pearl Island. What a philosophy? Have they forgotten that even after 2600 years, the teaching of a supreme leader exists in pristine purity? If not, this is not a blessed land.
Most importantly, we, nowadays hear from political platforms from various parties that the descendants of those politicians who are responsible for mass murder and display bodies in round about, killing hundreds in religious places by setting up su***de squads, burning bodies on tires, floating dead in streams are preaching of good governance and rendering services at the foot step of the voters when they gain power. You are kidding me !! Do you have to sharpen the buds of a tree? Do you think the cub of a lioness becomes a ‘deer’ once they grow up?
Henchmen of Sajith, whose father was responsible for many political killing during the insurgency, killing of innocence & ideology opponents and the henchmen of Namal, the architects of Easter massacre trying to propagate that the 1988/89 was merely a DJVP act and resulted in country’s bankruptcy. They are proven idiots not to know that the 1988/89 insurgency was a ‘re-action’ by DJVP of wrongful ‘actions’ of regimes of JR, RW and RP.
Sri Lanka has been a country full of dirty and corrupt politicians who denies education, Food, Shelter, Health and proper transportation to the poor but provide their own with all luxuries at heavy costs. They are of the opinion that this country should run by them only and not any from an average family of the general public.
Haven’t the time come for a change?
