Celebrating Cricketโs Global Growth and Announcing Upcoming International Events
The World Indoor Cricket Federation (WICF) proudly marks the successful completion of the World Cup in Sri Lanka, an event that showcased the spirit and unity of the global cricket community. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the Cylon Indoor Cricket Association (CICA) and Mr. Hiran De Mel for their outstanding hospitality and organisational excellence throughout the tournament.
We congratulate Australia for their remarkable achievement in securing all four titles at this yearโs World Cup. Their performance continues to set the benchmark for excellence in indoor cricket.
Growth of Indoor Cricket in Sri Lanka
Over the last two years, Sri Lanka has become a vibrant hub for international indoor cricket, hosting three major events: the 2024 World Cup, the 2023 Masters World Series, and the 2023 Asia Cup. These tournaments have driven unprecedented growth of the game across the country, inspiring new players and fans while strengthening Sri Lankaโs reputation as a premier destination for the sport.
Upcoming International Events
Looking ahead, the WICF is excited to announce the Junior World Series, scheduled for September 2026 in South Africa. The host centre for this prestigious event will be announced in two weeks, and preparations are underway to ensure another memorable tournament for junior athletes and their supporters.
Continuing Rule Trials
As part of our commitment to innovation and player safety, trials for the 2nd ball rule, Head Injury Assessment (HIA) rule, and review rule will continue at our next two major events: the Junior World Series and the Masters World Series. We are dedicated to refining these rules to enhance the game for participants worldwide.
Masters World Series Update
The next Masters World Series is planned for India, pending final logistical arrangements. WICF is working closely with local partners and stakeholders to bring this event to fruition, and further updates will be shared in due course.
Bilateral and Regional Tournaments
โข Australia will tour South Africa for a highly anticipated bilateral series for Men and Women just before the Junior World Series.
โข England is set to host a series of matches with new commers Finland, Canada, and the USA.
โข 2026 is the NZ Asia Cup which will be featuring three competitive divisions, Menโs, Womenโs and over 40โs Masters, location and timings to be announced shortly.
โข Christchurch will welcome the Trans-Tasman Masters event in September 2026 with a over 30 Womenโs division, 35, 40, 45, 50 and 55 Menโs divisions.
