When I attempted to built my first surfboard, I was just trying to make a board to do what I always loved to do, surf. For lack of a well ventilated workshop, I built my first board on my friendβs rooftop. Soon after I tested it in the water I sprung onto the second one. I made improvements in my build techniques, materials I used and I did some variation in the design, and then the third came wit
h even more improvements. By then my boards had gotten better and better, with friends and other surfers taking notice and soon after, asking me to build them their own custom boards. I took on the challenge with great dedication; I put in the hours for research, and improved not only the performance of the board, but also the quality, through sourcing of better material and practicing better build techniques. Now, I build custom boards of various styles and sizes depending on the rider's weight, skill and riding style. The boards are almost entirely handmade and assembled, with final design touches being put on by artist and designer friends as per each riderβs request. Watching novices experience surfing for the first time and veteran surfers enjoying their hobby on my boards brings me great pride and joy, as much as I take pleasure in building them in the first place, my passion really comes full circle when it comes to surfing.
