Last briefing before 1st TAKE OFF.
Why is it important?
At this point the student the student could be very excited and hyper, yet nervous, which sometimes leads the pilot to get confused during his takeoff procedure and steps, and that is very normal. This is why the instructor should remind him in a fast but precise sharp word about every point while insisting on safety measures to avoid any potential risk.
P.S: 1- Even after briefing and during the takeoff ex*****on, the instructor is standing close to the pilot and ready to help and interfere if there is a need.
2- Before each takeoff, the student gets a briefing, and after landing a debriefing but here we are talking about the briefing before 1st takeoff.

Only real paragliding pilots know that the landing part is the part we hate.

READ THAT AGAIN.

Skiing is an expensive sport specially for those who are willing to learn it or make their kids learn it.
BE AWARE while choosing your ski instructor as unfortunately many of them are not up to the level or can barely ski themselves.

Ask for Certifications
Ask for details about the instructor (level-experience...)
Choose an instructor that you have a trusted feedback about him.

Here's why they are so important:

✅ 1. Understanding the Wing Behavior
Inflation teaches the student how the glider reacts to wind, inputs, and terrain.

Helps the student develop the ability to recognize a good or bad inflation, avoiding dangerous launches.

✅ 2. Building Control and Confidence
Ground handling allows students to practice brake input, weight shift, and timing without the risk of being airborne.

It builds muscle memory and confidence in handling unexpected glider movements.

✅ 3. Safety During Takeoff and Landing
Poor ground handling = risky takeoffs and landings.

Students learn how to stabilize the wing, abort a takeoff, and keep control during gusts or turbulence.

✅ 4. Mastering Launch Techniques
Different launch techniques (forward, reverse, cobra, etc.) are first learned on the ground.

This is crucial for launching safely in varying wind conditions.

✅ 5. Learning to Read Wind and Terrain
Ground handling sessions teach students how to:

Identify wind direction and strength.

Use terrain features like slopes effectively.

Understand how the glider responds in changing conditions.

✅ 6. Developing Reflexes
On the ground, students can practice:

Collapses recovery

Preventing asymmetric lift

Reacting to front tuck or surge during inflation.

These reflexes are life-saving in the air.

✅ 7. Reducing Instructor Intervention Later
A student with good ground handling skills needs much less help on launch and progresses faster.

Summary:
💡 "If you can control the wing on the ground, you’ll control it in the air. If you can’t control it on the ground, you shouldn’t be in the air."

For a safe, confident, and well-prepared first flight, ground handling and inflation training are non-negotiable.
