Which one is better?
High intensity interval training (H.I.I.T)
or Low intensity steady state cardio( L.I.S.S) ?
In this segment of Ktchn talks we will highlight the differences between the two types and shed some light on they should be used!
Depending on your body type, and your goal at the gym, and the time you have ,you will find yourself wondering which type of cardio is adequate for you.
Well, they both are! However, here’s some of the differences in both :
⭕️Time : H.I.I.T can range from 10 up to 25 mins of really high intensity.
L.I.S.S can go from 30 minutes up to 2-3 hours.
⭕️Intensity : HIIT is the definition of a gut-wrenching tongue-out heavy breathing workout , that will basically take everything out of you using various movements that involves muscle strength and aerobic endurance.
LISS is not as hard as HIIT however to burn , you will need to be patient as you start burning calories almost half and hour into it. It involves things like walking, jogging, treadmills, jump ropes, cycling on a steady pace.
⭕️Calories burnt:
Understand that both types burn calories, however the after effect of both is different.
For LISS , you might work out for an hour, you might workout for two, however whatever calories you have burnt , are it for the day.
However, it is the opposite for HIIT.
If you work out for an intense 20 minutes, you might burn just as much calories as LISS did in an hour and you will keep burning calories almost up to 24hrs later.

If you are short on time, need fast results and you feel that you can really push through the workout without stopping, then HIIT would be good in helping you reach your target without eating up your muscles.
