🇱🇦 Junior Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Pre-Qualifiers 2026 – Colombo, Sri Lanka 🇱🇦🎾

A proud and resilient campaign from Team Laos at the ITF Junior Davis Cup Asia/Oceania Pre-Qualifiers 2026, finishing 11th out of 15 nations after a week of intense, high-level competition.

Competing under challenging circumstances with only two players — Athit Cassinis and Thanasone Songbandith — the team demonstrated exceptional determination, professionalism, and pride while representing Laos on the international stage.

Drawn into a highly competitive group, with eventual champions Malaysia, the team rose to the occasion with courage and commitment throughout the tournament.

🇱🇦 Athit Cassinis, Laos’ No.1 player, delivered an outstanding performance, leading from the front with multiple key victories — including being the only player to defeat Malaysia’s top-ranked player. His composure, fighting spirit, and consistency kept Laos competitive in every tie.

🇱🇦 Thanasone Songbandith, Laos’ No.2 player, faced a tough campaign under pressure but showed true resilience and character, competing with heart and determination in every match.

With only two players available, the physical and mental demands were immense — making their efforts even more commendable.

Beyond the results, the team embodied excellent sportsmanship, unity, and national pride throughout the competition.

Men’s Singles Quarterfinal

Day 6 rested firmly on the shoulders of our number one player, Sataporn Simmalivong, who stepped onto the court with belief, pride, and purpose. Facing Malaysia’s top player once again, Sataporn sought redemption following their tightly contested team-event encounter earlier in the Games.

This time, his opponent rose to the occasion with superior firepower and valuable tour-level experience. Sataporn fought hard, made adjustments, and searched relentlessly for solutions, but ultimately came up against a player who managed the pressure of the big stage more effectively on the day.

While this match marked our final competitive appearance at these SEA Games, it is far from the end of the journey. Day 5 was the busiest and most demanding day of the competition so far, with every athlete stepping onto the court to represent Laos in their individual events. From the first ball to the last, the intensity was relentless. The pressure was high, the opponents were world-class, and our athletes faced every challenge with courage, pride, and heart.

🌟 Soulisack and Athit shared a truly special moment, competing together as brothers on the SEA Games stage against a high-energy Malaysian team. Their performance showed grit, belief, and invaluable experience that will shape a bright future ahead.

🌟 Siana and Aliya took on a strong and fiery Vietnamese pairing in women’s doubles. Despite falling in straight sets, their effort and fight reflected the growing strength of Laos tennis.

🌟 Daimon and Xaysavath came out firing in men’s doubles against a powerful Thai team. They left everything on the court, pushing hard until the end against opponents with immense firepower.

🌟 Malaylack stepped onto centre court for a highly anticipated singles clash against the tournament’s 3rd seed and a top WTA-ranked player from Thailand. She started confidently and fearlessly, but against an opponent of this level, a few costly errors proved decisive. Still, her performance showed she belongs on this stage.

🌟 After a short turnaround, Malaylack returned alongside Sataporn for mixed doubles against Vietnam. The match was tight throughout, with only a few key points separating the teams in critical moments.

🌟 In the final match of the day, Xaysavath and Siana faced crowd favourites from Thailand. The match delivered highlight reel rallies and exciting tennis, but the Thai pair ultimately asserted their dominance.

Day 4 signaled the true beginning of the individual battles, as our athletes stepped onto the court for singles action, proudly carrying the Lao flag and embracing the challenge of the SEA Games stage.

Sataporn and Daimon kicked off the day side by side, setting the tone with confidence, determination, and belief.

🌟 Daimon went head-to-head with a disciplined Malaysian opponent known for his consistency and relentless court coverage. Every point was hard-fought, and Daimon responded with powerful serving and aggressive intent, creating multiple opportunities to take control. While the match ended in a straight-sets loss, his intensity, work rate, and fighting spirit never wavered, a performance full of promise for the future.

🌟 Sataporn faced an early test, starting slowly under the demanding Thai heat. Showing experience and composure, he stayed committed to his game plan against a heavy-hitting opponent. Through patience, extended rallies, and strong mental resolve, Sataporn gradually turned the tide. His persistence paid off, as the match ended with his opponent forced to retire due to physical limitations.

🌟 Aliya took to the court against a highly experienced Malaysian player. Despite the challenging scoreline, she competed with courage and professionalism, gaining valuable exposure at the highest regional level. This experience will only fuel her motivation, and true to Aliya’s fighting spirit, she will return stronger and more determined.

Another powerful day for Team Laos, as our athletes dialed in their focus and intensity in preparation for the individual events.

Our singles players pushed through high-tempo hitting sessions, sharpening footwork, timing, and match instincts. Meanwhile, the doubles teams built their rhythm and trust through tactical hitting, communication exercises, and pressure-point scenarios.

The atmosphere in camp was electric — everyone lifting each other, pushing harder, and preparing with purpose. Our unity continues to be our greatest strength, and every session brings us one step closer to the medals we’re chasing.

Today marked the official SEA Games debut for our men’s national tennis team, stepping onto the court with pride, determination, and four first-time SEA Games athletes. The atmosphere courtside was electric — our women’s team cheered passionately from start to finish, showing the true unity of Team Laos. 💙🔥

🔥 Match Highlights

🌟 Our youngest team member — and the youngest player in the entire competition — Athit took the stage for MS2, playing with courage, hunger, and fearless energy. Though his Malaysian opponent’s experience and heavy baseline weapons proved tough to break down, Athit fought every point with heart. A defining learning experience for our rising star. ✨

🌟 Next up, our most seasoned competitor Sataporn entered the court with his signature intensity: booming serves, explosive forehands, and endless fire. He battled toe-to-toe in two tight sets, but the Malaysian found the edge in the key moments. A brave fight from our veteran warrior. 💥

🌟 In doubles, Daimon and Xaysavath lit up the court with flair, teamwork, and spirited play. The crowd loved their chemistry, but Malaysia’s sharp net game ultimately sealed the match.

Today marked the beginning of our SEA Games journey—a stage we have trained, sacrificed and dreamed for. Standing across from us was second-seeded Indonesia, a powerhouse nation led by world-class WTA athletes. Yet from the very first ball, our Lao women stepped forward with courage, belief and the determination to show that Laos belongs on this stage.

🔥 Match Highlights

🌟 Siana began our campaign with fearless intent. Facing an opponent ranked WTA 324, she struck boldly, matched intensity with intensity, and played with the heart of a true competitor. Though Indonesia’s experience eventually prevailed, Siana proved she is building the game, strength and mentality to stand toe-to-toe with the region’s best. Every point she fought today lays the foundation for the player she is becoming.

🌟 Delilah then delivered one of the standout performances of the day. Against a top-tier opponent ranked WTA 53, she showed poise beyond her years—absorbing pace, constructing points with maturity, and stepping inside the baseline with full belief. She pushed her opponent deep, created real opportunities and showed the world that Laos is developing world-level talent. Her performance turned heads, earned respect, and sent a message: Lao tennis is rising.

🌟 In doubles, Aliya and Siana faced a highly decorated Indonesian team featuring a former WTA 26 doubles specialist. Our pair showed unity, communication and determination throughout, meeting power with resilience. Though the match swung the other way, every game was fought with pride and national spirit.

A new generation is rising — and the future of Lao tennis shines brighter with every match. Today, our young team showed courage, discipline, and heart against a strong Tajikistan lineup, finishing our campaign with pride and purpose.

🔥 Match Highlights:
🌟 Soulisack — who has led the team with class and commitment all week — stepped onto court for the opening singles. He came out firing with intensity and clear intent, pushing his opponent in long rallies. Despite his effort, the Tajik player remained solid throughout, and Soulisack went down in straight sets. His leadership, however, continues to set the example for our young squad.
🌟 Athit carried the responsibility of keeping Laos alive in the tie, and he delivered under pressure. With fearless composure and full confidence, he outplayed his older and more experienced opponent. His straight-sets win was pure Lao spirit — disciplined, explosive, and fearless.
🌟 In the deciding doubles, Xaysavath returned after a rest to partner with Phonepaseuth. The match was a true battle — an arm-wrestle from start to finish. Point by point, game by game, they refused to back down. With incredible fight and heart, they turned the match around and secured a thrilling comeback victory to close the week on a high note.

A day filled with pride, heart, and huge positives for the future of Lao tennis. Our young team stood tall against one of the strongest and most experienced line-ups in this year’s competition, showing courage, growth, and a fighting spirit in every match.

🔥 Match Highlights:
🌟 Daimon opened the tie with determination against a highly consistent opponent in tough, windy conditions. After dropping the first set, he responded brilliantly to take the second with power and belief. In the end, experience made the difference in the final set, but Daimon walked off with valuable lessons and another strong performance for Laos.
🌟 Athit, the youngest player on our squad, stepped into the No. 1 singles role today—taking on the highest-rated player in this year’s Davis Cup. It was his first time facing a professional athlete, and he embraced the moment with maturity and joy. His opponent, almost twice his age and with years more experience, showed the level Athit is climbing toward. Today was a milestone match in his journey, and he earned genuine respect from everyone watching.
🌟 In doubles, captain Soulisack teamed up with Phonepaseuth for a fast, aggressive, and thrilling encounter. Their leadership, focus, and on-court chemistry were on full display as they powered to a straight-sets win—finishing the day with pride and lifting the whole team’s momentum.
