🎃🤿🎃 Join us for some underwater fun! 🎃🤿🎃

We're trying something new for Halloween this year, and would love for you to join us...on October 17th, from 10am to 2pm, we'll be hosting an underwater pumpkin carving event! Bring a pumpkin and your dive buddy, and we'll supply all the tools. Costumes encouraged! 🧟‍♀️ 👻👹

🎃 SCHEDULE:
Check in at 10am and start prepping your pumpkin. When you're ready, jump into the water with your buddy and carve away! Voting (and prizes!) for the Best Pumpkin starts at 1:30pm.

🎃 COST:
The event is US$30 per person and includes an air tank, weights, and pumpkin carving tools. Nitrox tanks and rental equipment additional.
NOTE: This event is BYOP - Bring Your Own Pumpkin! 🎃

🎃 WHEN & WHERE:
10am to 2pm at our diveshop - Indepth Watersports at Macabuca

September in Grand Cayman 🌞

People always look at us like we’re crazy when we say September is our favorite time of year to dive. Yes, it’s peak hurricane season and we respect the risk. But when there’s no systems nearby, it’s the best conditions of the year - super flat calm, crystal clear, and warm water (it’s currently 86F!). And since it’s low season, the island is much quieter with less crowds, less traffic, and great low-season rates.

So if you’re waiting for a sign to come to Grand Cayman, this is it! Book your trip (maybe with some travel insurance just in case) and we’ll see you soon 🤿🌊💙

Lots of octopus on the reef lately!

Most octopus species are nocturnal, hiding in dens during the day and emerging at night to hunt.

Our very own rapha.dives spotted this lil guy just as they were ready to come out for a hunt. Check out those beautiful colors!

Tarpon!!

Tarpon (Megalops atlanticus) are large saltwater fish that usually congregate close to shore to hang out. We frequently spot them in the shallows on our house reef just cruising along - and if you look closely sometimes you can even see their dorsal fins breach the surface of the water!

🦀🦀 Did you know?! 🦀🦀

Recently we found this cool crab hanging around the tanks outside the shop. We put a picture up on the citizen science app iNaturalist...and it was ID'd as a Zombie Crab!

Apparently Zombie crabs are a Caribbean species of land crab, and they perform a mass annual migration back to the sea to lay their eggs. Looks like this one got a little lost!

If you haven't joined yet we highly recommend it - its a great way to record all the amazing species you see both above and below the water. Just ask instructor Dan, he's an iNaturalist Ambassador and would love to tell you all about it! 😁😁😁
