Right, let’s talk about steps. 👟
You’ve probably heard people in the fitness world constantly saying “get your steps in” but why does everyone care so much?
Because walking is one of the simplest ways to increase how much energy you burn throughout the day without beating your body up.
Your workouts might only take up an hour of your day. What you do during the other 23 hours matters too.
Getting more daily steps can help you to…
🔥 Burn more calories increasing your everyday activity can make a meaningful difference to your total daily energy expenditure and help you get into a calorie deficit!
❤️ Improve cardiovascular health, regular walking supports your heart, circulation and overall fitness.
📉 Support fat loss!!! especially when combined with good nutrition and resistance training, it’s not a magic tool but it will help you burn more calories without it being intense.
💪 Recover between workouts… walking is low impact and generally creates very little fatigue compared with adding more intense cardio.
🧠 Improve your mood and clear your head. Movement isn’t just beneficial physically.
And no, 10,000 steps isn’t a magical number.
If you currently average 3,000 steps, aiming for 5,000–6,000 is progress. If you average 7,000, try pushing towards 8,000–10,000.
The goal is simple: move more than you do now and find an amount you can consistently maintain.
So when your coach tells you to “get your steps in”, they’re not just saying it for the sake of it. 😉
Your workout matters. But so does everything you do outside of it.
Get moving. 👟
