Grant Thornton Cayman National Men's XV Player - Andrew Cayasso
Playing for the Cayman Islands National Team means far more to me than simply stepping onto a rugby pitch; it represents a lifelong journey that began when I was just six years old. Rugby has been a constant in my life, shaping who I am both on and off the field and teaching me discipline, resilience, and the value of teamwork through every training session, match, and challenge along the way.
What makes this journey even more meaningful is the legacy I am proud to follow. My father, Larry Cayasso, was one of the founders of the Cayman Rugby Football Union, helping to build the foundation of the sport here in the Cayman Islands while also representing our beautiful island on the national stage. Wearing the national jersey is therefore not only a personal achievement, but also a responsibility and an honor. It symbolizes pride in my country and respect for those who came before me, especially my father.
Representing the national team means representing my family, my teammates, and the island itself. It means carrying forward a legacy that has been built through years of dedication and passion. Playing for Cayman means giving everything I have, not only for the result, but for the pride of representing my country and contributing to its story. It reminds me that I am part of something far greater than myself, and that every match is an opportunity to honor the past while helping shape the future of the sport in the place I call home.
